A new official release will be made in a few days, so you might just want to wait for that, but I will run through how to install it. You'll have to find the proper files to download in these threads.
  • Create eq2.ini in your C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest2 directory. Right click and edit eq2.ini, then place the following text:

    Code:

    cl_ui_skinname MYMODS
    cl_ui_subdir UI/

  • Under the Everquest2/UI directory, make a new directory called mymods. Thus, you should have an empty folder at Everquest2/UI/mymods.
  • The EQ2MAP zip should already have the directory structure intact, so that you can just unzip with paths to the mymods directory. If so, skip the rest of this step.
    • From the EQ2MAP zip, place eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml in the Everquest2/UI/mymods directory.
    • Place all other xml files from the EQ2MAP zip into a new directory called eq2map under the mymods directory. You should now have Everquest2/UI/mymods/eq2map.
    • Create a new directory called images under the mymods directory. You should now have Everquest2/UI/mymods/images.
    • Create a new directory called icons under the images directory. You should now have Everquest2/UI/mymods/images/icons.
    • If it is in the EQ2MAP zip, place icon_map3.dds in Everquest2/UI/mymods/images/icons.
    • Create a new directory called maps under the images directory. You should now have Everquest2/UI/mymods/images/maps.
    • Place all other .dds files into the Everquest2/UI/mymods/images/maps directory.

After this, you should have a directory structure such as below.

Everquest2
|-UI
--|-mymods
----|-eq2map
----|-images
------|-icons
------|-maps

Don't you love my text drawings? :)

After this, you are done.

Ok, sofar so good, it seems to be ok.. let me check everything else.. ;)
-Gryphon
PS yes I love your Drawlings :D

Ok I lied...
Everything seemed to be fine untill it gets to the point of Adding Character to Game World..
It pauses and loads a little but then fades to black and comes up with a Critical Error.. Did I do something wrong..?

I also have the Averadpack mod ( Averad Packv1.2 ) also found on this website

Previously the EQ2.ini File had ....._skinname Averadpack
and then ......_subdir UI/ i moved the files from the Averad mod folder located in eq2/ui/Averadpack into the mymods folder.. and changed the _skinname A.... to _skinname MYMODS as you had said

I did that because i tried running it as you had said with just the MYMODS line and the game loaded without the Averadpack mod
Clear on what the problem is? please help again =o)

It sounds like one of your UI mods is conflicting with another one. I've never used the Averadpack mod, so I am not sure what that changes, but if it conflicts somehow with EQ2MAP then you could cause problems for yourself.

Try removing all of your mods, and add them back in one at a time, so that you know which one is causing problems - then you can post under the proper thread for that mod for help.

I wish I could help you more...

Thank you very much. From the standard instalation instructions I thought eq2map=mymods.

if you install the newest version of the updater it will install it in the correct folder for you.
