How to "save" the setup of the UI?

Hello all.

Is there a way to "save" my UI when I feel im satisfied with it on one of my four characters and then just apply it to the others and they get the same setup with tabs, chat windows and the rest?. Also, is there some way to apply this to new characters automaticlly?
Thanks for any help.

Yes. copy your [server]_[charname]_eq2_uisettings.ini file, replace server/character name where appropriate.

this works but causes random CTD when switching toons. I've got 6 toons, and after the tabbed chat patch i wiped my ini files for all toons and logged in with one toon to recreate how i wanted it all layed out. I did it on my main. and then copy/poasted to the other 5. now the thing will CTD on the 2nd or 3rd time i change toons. i deleted all the ini files excep the main and the problem went away again..

In other words:

The Interface folder holds all the graphics and graphics instructions. Much like a jigsaw puzzle, the Interface folder holds all the pieces.

The INI files hold the picture (or layout) of said pieces.

Thus, if you want to completely backup your interface, then create a BACKUP folder on your desktop. Then, go into your Everquest 2 directory and copy the UI folder into your BACKUP folder. Also in your Everquest 2 directory there will be two INI files you want to copy into your BACKUP folder as well:
EQ2.INI and permafrost_YOUR-NAME_eq2_uisettings.INI

The EQ2.INI file tells Everquest where to look for the jigsaw pieces and the other one tells the game how to layout all the pieces on your screen for your character. Once you have the layout set with your first character, we'll name him BOB the the file name would be permafrost_BOB_eq2_uisettings.ini. To make the layout the same for your second character (we'll call him MARK), just rename BOB to MARK like so: permafrost_MARK_eq2_uisettings.ini. Do this for each character and all of them will have the same interface.

If you have to re-install Everquest 2 then once it's installed you need only copy all the contents of the BACKUP folder directly into the Everquest 2 folder and you'll be good to go again.
