Fetish and eqmaps
New to fetish, and i have the updater working with the new launcher etc and i have the small on screen map working fine but the main main although has all the icons and POI etc the actual map is just a blank screen with no sign on the actual maps them selves.
Does anyone have any ideas. |
Make sure the patcher is set to ask to replace MainHUD.Map and always say no when prompted.
Since you may have already blown out the fetish version, replace eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml in your Fetish directory with the version found in the ZIP. Also check that the map images are actually downloading to the correct directory... Sony/Everquest II/UI/FetishNightfall/images/maps should contain around 335 dds files. If not, you may have to change the UI path in the map patcher. |
Help!!
I have the same issue with my map being blacked out, but all the icons still showing. I have tried the fix listed here and it isn't working for me. Also, it only seems to do this on outside zones, like Antonica or Sundered Frontier, but so far seems okay on any inside zone. I'm not sure if they helps figure out my problem or not.

Check your FetishNightfall/images/maps directory for the following files
map_antonica_0.dds map_antonica_1.dds map_commonlands_0.dds map_commonlands_1.dds map_feerrott_0.dds map_feerrott_1.dds map_lavastorm.dds map_lavastorm_0.dds map_lavastorm_1.dds map_lavastorm_2.dds map_nektulos.dds map_steppes.dds That should cover all the old world map images. If they are missing, try using the patcher to re-download all files. On occasion I've seen the map bug out like you're describing. Usually selecting the zone from the menus loads the correct image. |
Some of those files are there, some are not. However, even after I run the map patcher (which I've done probably 6 times in the last couple of days) those files still do not appear. Here is what I get when the updater is complete:
IgnoreList found Checking for new Database Scanning installed files _Skinnable_SearchResults.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_Location_Images.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_POI_Icons.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_SearchBar.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_Styles.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_WindowElements.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_WindowElementsMini.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. _Skinnable_Controls.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. eq2ui_popup_add_poi.xml is on IgnoreList, not updated. No Updated Files No New Files Update Done Do I need to uninstall and reinstall maps or fetish or both? **ETA** I even went through the patcher and re-downloaded all files and some of those files still do not appear for me. I can go into a zone, Antonica is the zone I tried, and when I reselect that map with the drop down like you suggested, it brings up the map correctly, but when I zone out and back in, it's blacked out again which means I would have to do this every time with every zone that is acting up. |
The very first FetishNightfall add on contains most of the listed map files. Here's a link to it.
MiniMap Supplement 1 and this should provide the others MiniMap Supplement 2 Extract them to Sony/Everquest II/UI/FetishNightfall/images/maps Please let me know if it solves the prob for those zones. |
Problem child back
Man Zonx, I'm sorry to be such a problem child. I don't know what is going on. I loaded all those files you linked and the maps still aren't working. I am not sure what all zones it is as I haven't checked them all, but I did just notice that North Qeynos is blacked out as well. It seems to be any outside zone and all instances seem to work. Do you think I should just wipes EQ2Maps and Fetish and do fresh installs?
I really appreciate all your help to try to get this figured out for me. |
Rename your uisettings.xml file for a character and log in to that character -- do the maps show up then?
IIRC there was a bug in the past related to multiple instances of the map window stored in a character's uisettings causing black maps. If renaming your uisettings (thus causing the game to create a new default one) fixes it then that might be the issue. |
Hrmm... yah I recall something similar. Do the following...
Look in your Everquest II directory for a file named as follows... YOURSERVER_YOURCHARACTER_eq2_uisettings.xml Make sure its the XML file and not the INI file of the same name. Copy the file to your desktop so you have a backup if something goes wrong in editing. Open the original in Notepad (Make sure Word Wrap is unchecked) Search for Code:
Map2_clone_2Code:
<window Name="Map2_clone_2" ...If that fails to solve the problem, repeat the above... this time delete all Map2_clone window entries. This will likely move your map windows, but should force the EQ2 client to rewrite the correct settings. |
WOO HOO, that seems to have fixed the problem. The maps all look unexplored now, but at least they are back!
