Windows 7?
Hi, I am buying a new computer today since my hard drive failed. Friends are saying if I get one with Windows 7 the EQ2 maps will not work. Is there a fix I can do to use the maps or is there a programming change on your side that needs to be done? Thanks for your assistance. I love your maps.

windows 7
I've been running windows 7 for months now and my maps work.
What are they saying doesnt work in windows 7, because mine seem to work fine... |
+1 I am running Win7 64bit here since last november. EQ2map works fine, nothing wrong w/ it, that's including the autoupdater.:nana:

I am currently running Windows 7 Home Edition x64. I have not had problems getting EQ2Maps to work at all. I am using the auto updating version of EQ2Maps. I'm not sure what if any software prerequisites are required for the updater to work. But I just installed it and ran with it. The most you might have to worry about is running the program with elevated privileges, but that can be accomplished with a right click and set to happen automatically with just a few clicks after that.
Also might want to read the Read First Post in the EQ2Map specific forum (the forum you've posted in). It may help you to avoid problems before they even start. http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=3203 Hope that helps assuage some of your concerns. |
I'm having an issue with Windows 7, as well. The auto updater claims that the files are loaded/patched properly, but then when I enter the game, the maps are unchanged.
I have visited several threads on the subject, but have not found a solution. |
Windows 7
I have been using Windows 7 ultimate for 4 months now without any problems.
As was stated in a previous post the only issue I saw as well was forgetting to run programs as an administrator. Until this is done the mapfiles will not update. |
I tried that. No luck. =\

make sure the updater is pointing to your eq2 folder. Some cases there is multiple installs of eq2 because people ran the disk again. Check the short cut you load eq2 with and then check the path in the map updater. Also check that the ui in eq2.ini is the same as it is in the updater.

I just got my computer a couple of weeks ago, so there are no other installs of EQ2 on it. I tried running as an administrator, I made sure the updater pointed to the right files, I checked the UI file...

EDIT: ...I wasn't logged in before, that is why I couldn't edit my previous post. *sigh* EDIT 2: Not sure why, but I just installed it on my laptop which also has Windows 7 and it works perfectly. =\ |
Does the EQ2MAP folder contain all the map files?
Compare with your laptop. |
Everything is the same in the EQ2Map folder and just to make sure, I copied the one from the laptop to my desktop. Still no luck.
|
Try run eq2.exe from the folder you have checked that EQ2MAP is installed in.
Don't use your desktop icon. |

I think I'll try the manual installation. EDIT: No luck there either. *confused* |
Fixed! My eq2.ini file was corrupted.
