Newb to UI mods looking for some direction.

Well I used to play EQ1 and got out around SoL (bought it never hardly played it).

Back then didn't really know of UI mods and it seems it has been sort of a rage since then. I have been having minor problems w/ the current UI in EQ and been checking some of the mods here and not sure if they will deal with it. The minor problem is that when I click on a player in my group window sometimes there is an info bubble that pops up for the player. This bubble often stops me from getting a good "hit" on the player. I think I have them targeted and to find out a heal is wasted on the last bloke I was on. It is sort of embarrasing. I am a healer and I am very mouse oriented when it comes to targeting in game. I have been trying to break myself of that but it has been a losing battle. I currently just resized the vertical group window and made it horizontal and put it at the top w/ two horizontal hotbars underneat w/ a third in a box shape packed away.

I would like to be able to click on a player and be able to hit a hotkey w/ my mouse w/ inches of the group window. Any thoughts? Like I said I am a newb to this never done anything like this but as I get to the higher levels a miss keystroke can mean a life or debt.

i suggest looking around, then giving a detailed description of what you are looking for, should you not find it.

I also recommend that your request be useful to many other people as well, and less of a personal preference. I say this because the harder the mod is, the less likely you are to get it unless
a. you do it yourself or
b. a lot of people see it useful, this will encourage a modder to create it for him/herself and everyone else

Actually ya I have issues most of the time and was gonna try a few of the group mods to check it out. I will let you know if anything works well and if not I will try to make one... I dont like the tooltips on some windows so I try to remove them when applicable :)

I will let you know but, if you haven't, post in the request section and put a detailed description like Tony said :) Tony is wise :nana:

Is there a way to turn of tool tips entirely?

If so that would be grand! I will have to check when I get back home tonight. I will try a few of them out there but sorta scared to :p

Guess should not fear change.. change is good..

Okay under UI there is a an option to slow down the tool tips did it so not a real bad problem now. But it affects everything that uses tool tips.

I was wondering. I used to test software and I know that tool tips in applications can be turned off and on, that is trivializing the task but it is the essence.

Does anyone know if a mod can be made to turn tool tips off in the group window only? If that is not possible maybe a way to only slow it down and not the rest? Hardcoded in the window? Or maybe a mod to the window options screen to add a tool tip timer delay so you can set it differently in each window if you want to?

I know very little about the client program EQII. Plus my experience is like 5 years old and that is decades in the software world.

I dont personally know of a button to get rid of them all... but you can filter and blank out tooltips in the code... for each item/window...

Well there is not a button to get rid of them all there is a scroll adjuster in the system currently to adjust the tooltips delay from instantaneous to 3 seconds. I can't remember where exactly right now.

Ah that is great! That is what I would be looking for then! To filter out/blank out tooltips for the grop window. Now all I have to go out and check out some the the group window mods and see which one I like best then see the maker will make a mod of it to filter out tooltips.

Thanks for the help!

filter hierarchical?

Another I cant check right now, but I've often wondered if filters are hierarchical - if I filter tooltips out at the mainHUD level, will it prevent every child object from receiving that info?
