No maps for dungeons show ...
Hello,
I used the EQ2 map updater to install maps. My maps for outdoor zones work. No maps for dungeons show. Someone on the game told me I should uninstall the maps and reinstall. I dont know how to do this. Please help. Fadani |
you can also press CTRL-M for the mini map and then the large map should work. Seems theres a bug on soe side if I recall

Hello again,
Tested to see if it was a bug with bringing up the mini map. That's not it. And with regards to the second reply, Im not sure where EQ2 maps are saved. If they were being installed to the wrong place, why would some of the maps work? Can you please tell me where I can find the map files? What path should the EQ2 updater be configured in? Atm, its in program files. Lol, wish was as straight forward as EQ1 ...ya just save maps to the "map" folder in EQ files =x Thanks, Fadani |

I have the same problem. EQ2Maps does not work. I get no maps in dungeons.
I start the updater, I click on Options, hit the Browse button next to the Everquest 2 path textbox. It is the correct path. Any help with what to do if that is not the problem? Onenote Crushbone EQ2 |

Ya, my EverQuest 2 path seems to be correct too. C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II with EverQuest2.exe selected. And its installing the map files to my default UI folder, I play with default ...so that seems right.
In my Default folder, the subfolder EQ2map is empty ...the subfolder EQ2map2 has 14 xml files in it. Seems all the dds files go to Images folder > maps Is there any other information that I could provide that might help troubleshoot this? -Fadani |
Ah, no my map doesnt have those buttons in the top corner. Is there a walkthrough on how to install it correctly? I just DL'd it, extracted the file and ran it ....how I install everything. Didnt know there was a special way it needed to be installed.

Usually all that is happening automatically. edit: I even tried manually setting the UI folder to Default in the configuration file and the updater gave an error message and refused to update like it is supposed to. So I have no idea what could have gone wrong in your case. Make sure you are using the latest version of the updater though. |
Thanks so much, got maps working finally! I did what you said, created a new folder in UI and started the installer again and files went to new folder. Hopefully having files in the Default folder that dont belong there wont cause problems. Thanks again, having no maps for months has been pretty lame.

Always happy to help. The files in the default UI folder should not cause any immediate issues but if you want to play it safe for the future you could delete that folder and have the eq2 launcher download a clean version.

ok I feel like we might have a solution. Here is what I have on my "update page" on EQ2Maps
Everquest 2 C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II Autolaunch EQ2 C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\EQ2.exe Launch File 2 --is blank -- Is this how it is supposed to be set up? -- I appreciate your help big time. I would LOVE to have this program and I have tried and tried to get it to work to no avail |

I only have one Everquest2.exe on my computer. The path is
C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II going to the UI folder--- C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI in that folder are these items Default File Folder EQ2Map File Folder fonts folder In the EQ2Map File Folder are these items eq2map2 file folder images file folder POI file folder eq2ui_mainhud_map2.xml eq2ui_popup_add_poi.xml In the eq2map2 file folder there are 14 xml document files In the images file folder there are: icons file folder map file folder eqmap.dds file Should I go any further? Is this any help? My fingers are crossed that the experts can help me. Thank you SOOO much! Deb/Onenote |
Given that, I'm assuming you're using the old patcher.
I'm going to repeat gm9's question since it will tell us whether or not the game is using the EQ2MAP folder (and thus the modified map window) or not. Does your map window have SubmitPOI and ReportPOI buttons in the upper right corner? Check your EverQuest II]\ folder for a file called eq2.ini. In it should be the following: cl_ui_subdir UI/ cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP |
I checked what my eq2.ini had and it was just as you said.
I brought up EQ2, I am in my guild hall I brought up the map. My map window does NOT have SubmitPOI and ReportPOI buttons in the upper right corner. You've seen my "file tree" I admit I am not smart with computers and all but I think my set up is correct. I just wish I could get this great program to work for me. thanks, Deb/Onenote |
I noticed there are 2 files in my C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II
There is a EQ2.exe AND a EverQuest2.exe Could this be my problem? please o computer gods ... be patient with the dummies I sure hope we can resolve this problem thanks! Deb/Onenote |
Everything seams to be right, all files are as they should :(
eq2.exe is the patcher. everquest2.exe is the game. Try run eq2.exe from this folder. |
Yeah -- the two different executables are supposed to be there, like jnils said. However, the lack of those buttons means the UI is not loading properly.
Try this: delete your UI/EQ2MAP folder and your EQ2.ini, then rerun the updater. All the files should download again. Then manually run EQ2.exe and see if those buttons show on your map window. |
GOT IT!!!
WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I HAVE A MAP WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! thank you thank you thank you SOOO Much!!! thanks for your patience with this. WOOOOOOOOT Deb/Onenote |
