If you run javaws.exe as admin with the parameter -viewer you can probably install the shortcut from there by right-clicking it. Or just launch it from there if you want.

Can't figure out how to run that as admin....hrrmmm

Find it in %SystemRoot%\system32 and right click it. Or install Windows XP. :p

No luck, was able to run that as admin and still says "unable to create shortcut", guess I install manual version...=(

discovered the problem; SP2 beta..... Recently installed that and nothing working right...hehe

Thanks for your help GM9!

Well after removing the SP2 beta, I still cannot get this to install. I have tried turning off UAC, and still get "unable to create shortcut for ProfitUI Reborn Updater". I have run javaws.exe -viewer as admin, and tried to create a shortcut and get the same error message. And yes I know the pat answer is to install XP, but I'm sure someone can get this to work under Vista.

Any help?

I know it works for many people under Vista, including Kaldran, the guy who programmed it under Vista. Googling for your error message turned this up however, so it may be a bug with Java under Vista:

As a workaround you could just use the .jnlp file (or a shortcut thereto) to launch the application.
