Help with installing Infocenter

I dont really understand any of the instructions. Is there anyone who could help me install it in simpler terms?

I downloaded the zip. Then I open up the UI folder in eq2 directory. Then I make folder called CustomUI. Then in that folder i extracted zip files and just left them all the way they were. So that means inside the CustomUI folder is a folder called Infocenter with all the stuff, and also 3 xml files.

I tried the game and it didn't work. So I made an eq2.ini file in the eq2 directory even though I have no idea what im doing. I put in file:

cl_ui_skinname infocenter
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Then tried game again and still nothing.

I should also mention that I have EQ2MAPs installed. That was easy it has it's own installer I just have to double click it.

I looked at the eq2.ini file I made and it changed on it's own to:

cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP
cl_ui_subdir UI/

So now I really don't know what to do.

Can anyone help me in detail how to install the Infocenter with EQ2MAPs. Those are the only ones I want.

Your infocenter stuff is in UI/CustomUI, as you said correct?

Edit eq2.ini and replace eq2map with CustomUI. Then run the EQ2MAP updater.

The reason infocenter didnt work the first time is you named your folder CustomUI and then told EQ2 that it was called infocenter. That doesn't work, whatever your folder is named is what eq2.ini needs to contain.

You should extract the InfoCenter zip to your EQ2maps folder inside the EverQuest II/ui/ folder

Since you already have EQ2Maps installed in a custom UI directory, they can both be installed to the same folder.

Still need more help.

I try both these suggestions and they did help somewhat. Both did same thing.

Info center is now on the menu and I can click it but it only shows up as blank black window. I can close it. And no links in the quest helper thingy to websites.

So any suggestions?

Do the man a favor and at least read his installation instructions.

Also the InfoCenter has nothing to do with the quest helper or any other interface window.

I read his install instructions. I read the instructions in the F.A.Q. section.

Obviously I don't know much about how to do this stuff. Please just help me out.

Nothing more to say than what he wrote. You copied the files, but you didn't do the rest:

- eq2ui_mainhud_startmenu.xml goes in your CustomUI folder.
- eq2ui_custom_optional.xml goes in your CustomUI folder.
- /InfoCenter/ folder goes in your CustomUI folder (retain folder structure from Zip).

If you're using a UI that has the eq2ui.xml file you need to make sure that <include>eq2ui_custom.xml</include> is added to the list.

Extra Install Notes:
Rename eq2ui_custom_optional.xml to eq2ui_custom.xml if you do not already have this file.
  • If you already have a eq2ui_custom.xml add the following to yours:
    Code:

    <include>eq2ui_custom_infocenter.xml</include>
    <include>InfoCenter/includes.xml</include>

Did you do this???
You shouldn't be so quick to fire back at someone that IS trying to help. All the instruction to allow the mod to function correctly have been supplied.

It is up to the user to follow them Completely and Correctly.
