Gathering

Does anybody know if there is a add on that will show locations of gatherable items (harvesting nodes) on the map? So I dont have to run around looking everywhere. I searched the forums and download section but quikly found out if you dont know what to call it you cant find it

Gnomish Divining Rod

You can use a Gnomish Diving Rod

While this creates a waypoint for the items shown in the tracking window if you click on them, it will use up the charges doing that. I just use it to tell me I am in the right area for what I am looking for.

It is also great for locating shinies and pages.

And why is that? Surely it can't be too hard to make a mod for EQ2map, or maybe even a stand-alone, that notes the /loc of nodes you interact with for later notation on the map.

I don't think he/she was asking for something that detects where nodes are, but rather something to keep track of nodes people have found, and can then all be compiled onto downloadable maps. It's really nothing different then EQ2maps PoI system, so I don't see why it couldn't be done

What's the point of that? So your POI indicates someone found ore there but when you arrive there's a bunch of bushes or maybe nothing at all. At least I assume the OP is talking about the random type harvestable spawns, because the others are easy enough to find. And collectible spawns are already in EQ2MAP.

Harvestable nodes appear in random locations so it is impossible to track them.

There are only the odd couple that spawn in the same place.

I think the original poster is hoping EQ2 is the same as WoW where the nodes appear in the same places and there is a mod that shows on the map where they are.

It'd be possible to make a sort of semi-opaque overlay to show where nodes can spawn, but its impossible to show the actual location of nodes as they are indeed random.
