how do you turn off this eq2map? all the dots are getting annoying? any suggestions? i uninstalled it but it didnt work....

Delete eq2.ini and the 'annoying dots' will go away. Uninstalling the auto-updater does not remove the ui mod, but deleting eq2.ini in your EQ2 folder will.

If you're using another UI mod or full-blown custom UI (Fetish,ProfitUI, ThorUI, etc) along with EQ2Map, you may instead want to delete the custom UI folder you have and rebuild it (re-download and install any/all mods) in order to remove all the EQ2Map files.

Not sure offhand if the EQ2Map updater puts all custom map files into an EQ2Map subdirectory within the custom UI folder or if it does put a select number of files in the base custom UI folder, but I figure wiping the slate clean and rebuilding from scratch works the best when trying to remove something ;) (as painstaking as it may sound, that mentality works great when fixing computers; i.e. wiping/reinstalling the OS).

In the base folder goes eq2ui_mainhud_map.xml, that's the only file you need to delete to remove eq2map. You will keep some litter, namely the \EQ2MAP folder and some images in the \images folder.

But that litter will all be handy when you decide later that the dots weren't really so annoying after all, and you want back the info that EQ2MAP provides. :D
