If I made a T.King...

If I made a the T.King Undead skin for ProfitUI would you use it??????

Thinking about it and I want to know if you guys would use it.

Clink 03-09-2008 01:24 AM

Kinda of hard to say without knowing seeing a sample or something. However. I do love a lot of T King's stuff. Id definitly give it a try.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 01:35 AM

I'll post a mockup in a second.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 01:56 AM

Took me a couple hours to pretty much make it compatible for profit, change a few elements, add a few elements, and tweak the old T.King Undead skin, even though it's just an early mockup; which I might scrap.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 01:59 AM

Oh, and it's almost 100% identical to the default/classic profit skin besides the backrounds, a couple images, and the skulls

Nimmerin 03-09-2008 02:20 AM

Not bad. I used to use Tking UI in EQ1 days. Specially the spell icons.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 03:27 AM

I think it would be more appropriate to use the classic Profit UI background with different colors because the T.King Undead one doesn't resize well.

Clink 03-09-2008 03:45 AM

that looks really nice! :)

I often wonder what happened with the T.King UIs/ i can remember when he was supposed to be making exclusive EQ2 UIs for this site.. we got The Undead one and I seem to recall a wintery leafy elf one but I cant seem to find it now. Hvaent seen or heard of anything new from TKIng in a long, long time.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 04:00 AM

I have to say that doing the profit classic backgrounds, etc, has a much much cleaner and sexier look:

Well Dragowulf I must say you have come quite a long way since I was last around, Your latest project is looking very nice, well done mate.

Myself I have never been a fan of T.King, but far as I understand graphics is his thing and he has done some awesome stuff. (whilst not being a fan I can still appreciate quality when I see it)

The efforts in the past by the man himself to integrate his works into a UI were not very successful on a large scale.. each to their own I say...

You use what you can and improve upon this my friend, But it is probably not wise to make comparisons, just a bit of friendly advice, I don't want to see you getting into sh1t ;)

Mordran5565 03-09-2008 09:31 AM

I would LOVE to have a ProfitUI mod like this! I am sure there are alot of other people that play evil toons that would as well. PLEASE, PLEASE, continue this project.

Krylosis 03-09-2008 11:25 AM

T. King

T.King was a much better EQ1 UI maker than what I saw in EQ2. his graphics are lovely. Then the EQ1 UI i believe seems to be a bit easier to deal with vs the way EQ2 handles it.

What I'm supprised is that I can't find any other info on T.King in an hour of searching the web for him.

Krylosis

Dragonwulf: Good job, though my favorite UI is LAFFS work on Perdi's UI. BUT I love your Inventory!

Off topic: I remember when I just started .xml and making UI's around the time of Incubi Silver, I was so newb =P

Yeah, while I like a lot of T.King's work, I wanted to make a T.King Undead based skin for Profit because I like the undead feeling, but I like some elements in the ProfitUI classic skin, and I just want to mix them together.

Of course, credit is definitely going where it is due, and in no way am I adept at PScs3

dragowulf 03-09-2008 06:45 PM

A working version is almost available.

dragowulf 03-09-2008 07:44 PM

Anyone know which file the which .dds file is used for the Hotkey Settings > Icon Borders????

Maginus 03-09-2008 08:34 PM

I would so use that for my profitui, specialy if you can do something different with the gauges. I want fatter gauges hehe. Specialy the gauges that are self, target, implied....you know the little ones. so small...

ps. don't get to check boards much so if you do and have a the time e-mail me if or when you finish it...=)

dragowulf 03-09-2008 09:44 PM

How many of you would tell me right now from these screenshots you would use it.

This is how far I've come, and it seems to be almost done.

Nice change of style, and that last version looks really good (not as many skulls as on your first draft). The icon borders should be in icon_transp1.dds, no?

Reminds me that I wanted to add a user submitted skins category to the updater, we have a couple of those now I think. I always like to see these - even though dragowulf is an experienced modder, reskinning ProfitUI this way is just graphics work, anybody can do this without ever touching an xml file. So give it a try!

You don't have to do much searching to see T.Kings work in EQ2, you see it every time you log into EQ2 without a custom UI. He did the "new" EQ2 default UI when it was redone a year or two ago. There wasn't a big deal made about it, and I don't know if it ever really publicly came out that that was his work, but there ya go.

I just thought the skulls wouldn't look too good as the top/bottom bar.

Mordran5565 03-10-2008 09:35 AM

OMG!! This Profit UI mod is outstanding!! I can't wait for it's release. One suggestion / comment. Would it be possible to change or release a version w/ the classic ProfitUI "rust" color background? To me, that gives it a nice deep, dark, blood red feel to the rest of the theme. OUTSTANDING work!!

:nana:

Maginus 03-10-2008 05:19 PM

I would totaly use it.......

As a necro I think I'd use this. Good work Drago.

dragowulf 03-11-2008 12:33 AM

I will clean up a couple things and upload the first release of it.

commonelements.xml has been modded as well (the only other xml in it). There was only like one or two things changed in it so one of the elements could work, but other than that, it's all the same as the default commonelements. The rest of the files are .dds

I'm thinking about making a T.King knowledge book for this skin as an add on as well.

Calain80 03-11-2008 06:06 AM

nice work!
