Chat Text Modification?
 

This was an idea I got from modifying existing UIs from WoW... I checked around the forums, couldn't find any mention of it so I guess this would go under 'wish list,' but if not, forgive the error :)

Replace the additional text from chat lines and replace them with nothing or very small identifiers.

For example, instead of:
"You say to guild, 'Yarr'"
Replace with:
"[G] 'Yarr'"

Or someone else: "[G] Jay: 'yar'"

Anyways, looking over the official ui thread here, I didn't see anywhere that this is possible, so maybe it'll be picked up by a dev, who knows :)

As far as I know, there's no way to change the text in the chatboxes besides the available filters, and hit modes.
Which is unfortunate, because one of my biggest pet peeves is chat lines that are longer than needed.

Especially cross server/game chat....

EQ.ServerName.CharacterName tells EQ.Servername.ChatChannel (1), "Hi"

Way too long...
