POI is a big black empty box

OK. Thats not entirely accurate. The poi box comes up sometimes with text sometimes not. The biggest problem is I get the POI as a big black box with no scroll bar but text inside. I have to drag the box down until its a few screens big to see all the text. Text is normal size.

I updated to version 1.51 as well as add the poi updater, updater downloaded 204 files and I relogged back in but still a big black screen with normal size text. Also using profit UI

HELP!?!

Make sure eq2ui_custom.xml file includes the line :

<include>eq2ui_custom_poifinder.xml</include>

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Try opening the file using Notepad. XML files are just specially coded text files. Hope this helps.;)

Hunnar - that did help thanks.

jnils - ok, that line is included in the eq2ui_custom.xml but I'm still getting a big black box. Sometimes it has all the appropriate readable text, somtimes it's blank.

ONe thing I did notice that I'm not exactly sure how I did it (Ican be a real genious sometimes:( ) I'm using profitUI and theres 2 EQ2Maps. One thats the default and the other is under profitui....both have the new POI installed. Does that matter? If so how do I get rid of one and where should the POI fall under?

read the red line in my sig. :)

and you don't need to configure anything after that, just extract the POIfinder download into your ProfitUI folder.

Except the instructions with the download say your suppose to unzipped it to customUI/eq2map. So I put it in profitui/eq2map. Also installed the poi updater and thats suppose to update the correct file without installing 1.3.

POI Finder isn't part of EQ2MAP, just to clear things up. This thread should be moved so people don't start thinking it is.

well take it or leave it, if you think you know it better than I do I don't see why you ask and post here in the first place. /boggle

Ok, so I misunderstood the instructions

Do as gm9 tells you , make a clean install.
Don't install POIFinder, just run the POIFinder Updater , this way the files should end up at the right place :)
Make sure the updater says ProfitUI as UI or else change this in options.

Yeah I did originally move it here, but I take Landiin's point. :)

I did, once I understood the correct tree to drop it in. It's just in the instructions you drop a EVERQUEST2\UI\CUSTOMDIR\EQ2MAP. Which I don't understand why you put it there. That whole paragraph should be condensed to "If you're using a custom UI (ie...ProfitUI or some other) you should unzip the POI Finder into EVERQUEST2\UI\CUSTOMDIR where customdir is the top of the custom directory. Putting EVERQUEST2\UI\CUSTOMDIR\EQ2MAP is just confusing because it makes it look like it goes to eq2map instaed.

On a side note how do I get rid of the 2 other copies I dropped into my EQ2MAP folders?

jnils 02-03-2008 01:33 PM

Delete all poifinder files :)
