tinkering and transmuting

Is it possible to have a meter like regular xp/crafting xp?

Yes it probably has been asked or even discussed already but alas i am kinda lazy and didnt want to look it up =)

No, because they don't use xp.

Tinkering and Transmuting operate based on random skill-ups... theres no such thing as xp for them.

Tink/Mute

Wouldnt it be possible to make a window, with x amount of little peices, each representing a skill up, then when you skill up, it reads it from the given info, then fills in a little peice? like

(__________) <~ 0%
but after a skill up
(|_________) <~ 1%
etc

I know it would be a pita, but isnt it possible?

In short.....no.

In long......That information isn't readily available to be used in this fashion (i.e. it is not shown visibly in the UI nor is it an element the modders/authors here have access to in order to create something like this).

My guess would be to /feedback this in game. Perhaps SOE will implement this from their end.

Even if it were possible, I don't really see how it would be of any use. As was already pointed out, there aren't any "levels" in tinkering or transmuting; there are just skill points. So there's no "X% to next level" to report. You might have, say, 118 points right now, and need 128 for the next item you'd like to be able to make, and need 175 for another really cool thing beyond that, and need 246 for the one you really want to get to, etc.

So exactly what would the % in the bar you're proposing be measuring, anyway?

You could always, you know, open your persona window to the skills>tradeskill tab and theres precisely that... a bar of current/max skill. But we don't have that information as dynamic data so that's the *only* place you can see it, I believe.

I might be off here, but he's looking for progression toward a skill up, which, from what I've read , is basically impossible to predict. Having both a tinker and a transmuter at 400 I can guarantee you the progression is not consistent, there would be times I would go 12 to 15 crafts between skillups and then 2 crafts later I would skillup again.

If you read it carefully, at first thats what they're asking for, but in the part DBurgdorf quoted they just want essentially a skill bar for it (current / max skill) -- they revised their request after they learned that it doesnt use XP or anything like it.
