Misaligned Points of Interest

I checked and didnt see a thread with the same problem as me, if anyone knows of one please forgive me and point me in the right direction.

I have used EQ2 map with no problem since the summertime, however when the new expansion went live, my maps went screwy. By that I mean a few things:
1) when I enter a new zone I have to open and close the map to make any of the locations, points of interest or any other markings appear
2)everything is waaaaaaaay out of alignment, but only the graphics for it. If I click on a location I want to go to, it still puts an X on the proper spot on the map and leads me to the right place, but the actual marker for that location is generally halfway or all the way across the map. As im fairly new to the game this tends to be a bit confusing especially in zones that are hard to navigate or if I am trying to find a certain dot :P

I have completely uninstalled my original download and reinstalled the newest version in order to try and fix it, but no luck. This happens on all of my pcs so I know its not just a problem with this one.

Any suggestions?

In which zones does this happen? Can you attach a screenshot?

Ilysess 01-06-2008 08:34 PM

It happens in all zones, ill try to get some better screenies but for now, here is one I just took standing on the griff tower near south q gates. As you can see the marker for North Qeynos is nowhere near the actual location... One of the towers and the gnoll cave are in the water etc. You cant tell unless you know all the minor points by heart, but they are all skewed the same way

Yea, notice this happening in a few zones myself.

Looks like its just the SOE ones that are all confuzzled. The regular POIs from EQ2MAP appear fine in your first image (the one of Antonica) -- I know as those blue dots run along the road as they should.

Interesting, though. I wonder if it has anything to do with the RoK changes and how they compensated for them.

This bug only happens in certain zones. It's a bug in the default map since November and it has nothing to do with the EQ2MAP.

You can /camp <your character> to fix it.

Right, my "they" was SOE -- how they compensated for it was how they (SOE) took into account the old zones - especially the ones you mention in your post there that were sent down from the server (that way you actually had to explore the map). I don't see why they just don't make them like every other map now... keeping them hidden might have been useful at launch but it certainly isnt anymore.

I'm getting something very similar to the obove thread... Things like the gryphon station markers appearing further south-east to where the actual station is (and, YES, i have as a result run to the wrong place(s)!).

The thing is, my setup is fairly new, having only joined the game a month ago and my EQ2Map install, therefore, is also quite new. I've kept it up-to-date but certain markers stay resolutely in the wrong place. However, a friend, who also runs EQ2Map says his icons are in the correct places where I'm seeing them incorrectly!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Have you read the thread at all? It's a bug that SOE has to fix. Keep your map window at default size and it won't happen.

I tried the /camp <Character Name> & I tried resetting my map windows position...no good.

Anyone have any other tips to fix this problem? :(

gm9 03-11-2008 02:14 PM

not position, you need to reset the size, and you need to do it before zoning into a zone for the first time during that play session.

N00B here...but how do you reset the size?

BTW: Love your UI gm9!! ;)
