Another Newb Question

Ok so I have the ui installed and its pretty spiffy, the only issue i'm having is, unless i mouse over the chat window, when i got to type a message it appears underneath the text thats showing in the existing chat, superimposed. when i mouse over it it shifts so i can see what i'm typing.

What am i doing wrong?

You aren't doing anything wrong. It is simply a question of chat-window configuration.

Try this:
(a) Bring up the Options window for your chat window.
(b) Turn on 'title and frame' from the pulldown selection, in the center right of that window.
(b) Turn on 'show title on mouseover'.

Getting a 'blank line' at the bottom, rather than have the chat window 'move up one line on mouseover' is a matter of turning on the right set of winodw options.

The above should work, although you have to put up with the title appearing.

<EDIT>
Zonx provides a solution to this problem, which I had forgotten about: An optional .xml file to remove the 'input stealthing' (as it is called).

(1) Copy eq2ui_mainhud_mainchat.xml to _stealthed_eq2ui_mainhud_mainchat.xml (ie., back up this file in case you want to restore it)
(2) Copy _simple_eq2ui_mainhud_mainchat.xml to eq2ui_mainhud_mainchat.xml
(3) Adjust the none/frame/frame+title and mouse-over options to your preference.

Actually you can set the opacity on mouseover to whatever you like, just set the menu to Frame and Titlebar for any chat window you want to reserve space for chat input. ;)

This feature is intended to reclaim chat input space on all those extra chat windows many of us have that we never actually type in :)
