"Microsoft has encountered problem" errors when trying to log in with EQmap
 

i have installed the EQ2map interface (the manual one), and everytime i press "play" on a chara and get the "logging into game with <name>", the game gives me a Microsoft has encountered a problem blah blah blah error (the ones that have the "report" feature) and i cannot log in the game until i delete the EQ2map folder. i am pretty sure i am installing it correctly... i have EQ -> UI -> myui -> all the xmls -> then a folder with the dds and tga. i also made the eq.ini file (and yes, its an ini. not a .txt or anything).

is it an eq2.ini or eq.ini? That wouldn't cause a crash, but sure wouldn't allow you to use your maps =/

yea, its an eq2.ini.

Have you tried to install the autoupdater? I haven't ever had a problem with the autoupdater. If you must use the manual, try redownloading the archive and see if that helps. Also, make sure that the XML files are in

C:/Program Files/Sony/Everquest 2/UI/custom

or wherever your EQ2 installation is.
