Hotbars
How can I make the hotbars ALWAYS visible?

the answer on the hotbar issue is here: http://www.eq2interface.com/download...inghotbar.html Dont forget to thank your local mod authors :) |
This is a great idea whose time has come!
This is really a great mod, and the best part is the installer that lets you get a complete UI without having to download bits and pieces (which is what I've been doing as I've figured out what I really want)
I played WoW for a long time and when a couple of the major sites provided the ability to do a comprehensive update, it was a huge benefit. There were two methods, one was simply all the updates on a particular website...each user's favorites were used to flag that an update was needed by comparing the date of download in the user's local machine with the date of the update on the web. It wasn't perfect because the dates could be misleading but generally it worked. The user was shown a list of all his/her addins locally with the ones needing update shown in a color. The user simply pressed a button, the installer went to the web and bingo, the updates were downloaded. You could force any individual addon to download, or refresh the whole list. You could also check the website through the installer to see if there were new ones you wanted to add. Normally you were shown only the ones you had installed. The other method was similar except the version numbers were controlled (it was a more integrated set of addons) so the updating was more accurate. The user was presented with a list of all his/her addons with checkboxes if they were to be updated (no information as to whether updated was needed), and a second frame in the window with a list of ALL compatible addins. That kind of thing is probably more than you want to tackle, and I'm happy to download the UI mods I prefer (if I decide I have to have different ones from the ones you choose). Here are the ones I have tried and like a bit better. If you're still working out the ones you want to include you might look at these... The shogun target ring, it's really beautiful! Http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4583 There is a very nice mod you might want to add...it puts the HO vertically or horizontally instead of in a circle...http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=3678. I tried the tradeskill window that is included, but I was unable to move it from its default position. I made sure the window was unlocked so I don't think it's something I am doing wrong but that's definitely always a possibility. There is also a 'workbench' window with a maroon and a black bar, and a little arrow up top. I don't understand what this is for, can you explain? Or let me know the underlying UI mod so I can figure it out myself. I prefer this tradeskill addon http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4438 because it is small (maybe not quite as small as the one included in your compliation) but it also shows the power and health bars right in the tradeskill window, so you only have to look in one place. It also has a 'recipes' button to return to the workbench default recipes, and allows repeat of a recipe by simply pressing the 'enter' key. I have arthritis so keyboard entry is better for me than mousing. I also prefer the key-oriented looting mod http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4218 You also might want to consider http://www.eq2interface.com/download...fo.php?id=4202 which presents all 4 exp bars at one time (or as many or few as you prefer). I do realize I'm trying to impose my ideas of what are the best mods on your ideas, but as I said up top, I don't really mind downloading them separately if you don't agree. And again thanks for a great compliation. |
Thanks for your response, I like your ideas and will include the tradeskill and exp bar you mentioned in the next update. Target ring on the other hand must go. looked at the code for target rings and for the most part they dont meet the criteria on my nifty Lag-O-Meter (tm).
I would be interested to see a target wing that is cut down even less than the default one, more like a cross hair the kind you see through a gun scope. Soon the installer will allow the user to select which mods to update (check box style), eventually, drop down window with more options. Example: Target ring choices, would bring a drop down list with all of the compatible target rings i would have included, and thumbnail screen shots of each one. So the user will be able to choose what mods they want installed. I plan on having a very large database of all updated mods, and hope that mod authors (only registered mod authors of eq2interface are going to be able to submit, as to avoid potential hacks/scripts concernes) will submit their mods to me via email so that the updates will be done as fast as possible. Although i will host NO forums, that's to be done here :) |
Awesome
that would be perfect!
|
Just found the UI, using it now... already drooling at its awesomeness :D Thanks. Screen is almost totally clear of clutter and just as functional.
|
I love your UI, I used it since the release.
But I must admit I modified it a bit to fit my needs and guts. Anyway I really love the minimal UI and this one rules. |

That's what it's really all about. [messing with] is how SlimLine became a UI. I won't be offended if 100% of it doesn't match your criteria. hahaha! I consider it a compliment to have people tell me here and in emails: "I really love it although i did change a couple things." I consider it flattering. Keep it up! |
I've been using a hodgepodge of pieces from profit and some of yours. I noticed that when I updated from a previous version I got a different set of target/implied windows and had to download a different version of wyldsongs (or whatever) to get the old look. Just curious as to why they changed, the previous ones looked much much much more attractive and matched the player frame.
Target/Implied Target Edit: Actually, I think I had to go back to an older version of Slimline I had saved to get the frames back. |

edit: (Look at the hotbar above the raid window.) |
rofl, nice catch there Othesus, seems he doesn't like to do his crafting on his own. Conveniently he has his player name on that screenshot, makes reporting him so much easier. :p
|
I must be blind >.< or the pic has been changed as I don't see it. I wanna see too!! lol
|
what on earth?
what are you talking about. I don't craft, that bar has cures (bottom row) and (from L to R) Transmute (dragged from knowledge book), arcane cure pots, clarity pots, mod rod, necro heart, and manastone. I have no macros and havent crafted since.... june? 29 sage gogo i want to see too. |
I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm just observing the evidence, but that doesn't prove anything. Does anyone else play EQ2 on this computer or did anyone?
|
no one else, but i seriously don't even know what the problem is or what you're talking about. If its a macro program or something it came with profit, slimline, or your chat window thingy that removes the text background. I can send you a complete eq2 folder if you think you can fish it out of wherever it is.
|
they are referring to the trade skill/crafting icon in your spell bar..
that came with my UI.. i included it as a liberty.. why? some people use them, some people don't... i myself use one.. but the reason for including the .dds files that make the poster appear to be such a villain, which he is not, is because i find them attractive... thru the corner of my eye at a mere glance i know FOR SURE that the icon is for trade skilling, now i sure wont click that to heal someone... *grin* you guys wanna start a debate on morals and bots, up to you.. the poster is innocent... |
To address the original issue:
Now remember, im no coder.. but in my experience, i have never had much luck at mix and matching other people's complete ui's.. graphics etc get all bungled up.. So i stick with easy and small. |
Just to make sure I understand before I comment further on this: You include color coded .dds files that can be recognized by a crafting bot program for AFK crafting into your interface because you find them attractive and you admit yourself to be using such programs?
|
i see how ya tried to silently bring in the AFK word... pretty swift.. but i caught it none the less... BUSTED! LOL
me? afk and bot? oh god no.. carpel tunnel syndrome? yup find the dds attractive? yup any laws stopping me from including/altering .dds ? NOPE carry on... |
I think my question was pretty straight forward. And you are still breaking the EULA, AFK or not. But let's not have that discussion here, it would be pointless.
Would you mind removing any ProfitUI windows from your mod please? I'm not happy to see my work in a UI for botters. Thanks. Much appreciated. |
What i basiclaly did was copy the default UI folder, and drag in pieces of the interface I wanted to keep. So, grabbed the unit frames from slimline among other things and all of the corresponding image files etc... I'm asking why you decided to change the target/implied target away from the ones I pictured. I ran the slimline patcher and got new frames is all, just curious as to why they changed.
