How to create/insert your own maps or someone else's :)
Some experience with UIBuilder and/or XML recommended... Works best when you already have something to work with, like this map.xml file http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/a...tachmentid=715 found at http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...&page=16&pp=20 heres the text file...easier for me to update this way. contents: zonrect point to map image positioning the map icons multi-floored zones (ie Stormhold Keep, BB) multi-page zones (ie Antonica) availablerect availablepriority future updates: going to add how to create your own map using /loc List of all internal zone names. Edit: Detailed post for ZoneRect corrections can be found here: http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/showthread.php?t=963 ________ KID AVANDIA |
Great! Can't wait to try it out myself :)

One minor correction: the blank map isn't transparent because it's black; it's transparent because it's alpha layer is all set to 0% (fully transparent). There could be a pretty picture of a flower in the blank map .dds, but as long as the alpha layer was all 0%, you wouldn't see it in game.
Quib Edit: In reply to the post below this... I AM Haliken. I shouldn't have signed up under that name, and a little ways into our map thread I changed logins. |
gotcha! added the map_clear.dds that quib made and the map_blank.dds that Haliken made.

updated the main post. Deleted the huge guide out of the actual post and put a newer version there as an attachment.

You can add your custom mapstyles to eq2map2\_User_MapStyles.xml without fear of the updater overwriting it.
Can also be used by users of course to add maps posted on these forums which are not yet on the updater (although we'll try to add them faster in the future). |
Map size
I have noticed with the new map UI that some of the SOE built in maps seem to be much larger. Is this something that we can take advantage of when creating new maps or are the custom ones created by the user community limited to the previous size.

In theory we also support maps in 1600x1200, but we didn't write that down anywhere since last time I discussed it Dolby he wasn't sure about the bandwidth costs. However, in the meantime we started compressing everything which should reduce bandwidth usage considerably so maybe he'll be ok with it now. I'll ask him.
