SOE_bobble, let us use the character window ingame again! please :(

SOE_Bobble 12-13-2005 06:44 PM

It will be much more productive to ask for particular data you want to see that may have been on the window.

Or think outside the box and ask for something really interesting.

I'd like access to the "spell effects" list that was in the character window, currently I can graph it into the player window and it works in the UI builder, but since MainHUD.Character wont load ingame it wont load into the player window.

+ number of kills
+ number of deaths

but beg the question, why were some windows denyed opening ingame?

Landiin 12-13-2005 07:46 PM

Ok being you askJ

How about giving data for every element of you char. I mean we can't really manipulate the data so why not let us at least display it.

Things I would like to see added to the current gamedata.

/gamedtat/group/groupmemeber0-5

all resists

Avoidance

Mitigation

Health that works pushes percentage and progress bar data.

/gamedata/raid/

all that’s in group plus what I listed

/gamedata/ImpliedTarget/

effects

effect timers (player casted)

/gamedata/Target/

effects

effect timers (player casted)

/gamedata/inventory/ (replaces item)

data for every slot

/gamedatat/bag/

bagname

bagslots

bagitem (array text(formatted itemdatea) icon ect) can use data filter on this data.

/gamedata/sats/

Slashing, Crushing and Piercing fixed

Current hit (current fight)

Current high hit (current fight)

Current low hit (current fight)

Current dps (current fight)

/gamedata/self

session timer (time played this session)

day timer (time played today)

high hit ever

lower hit ever

unless SoE was trying to hide something from the players... why would you deny them the information to begin with. I personally liked seeing my haste being shown. Also stats like pierce, slash, crush resistance was nice to know as well. Why would SoE all of a sudden decide NOT to show the players certain data on a whim. I am doubting it was a whim. rather then throw out assumptions and play conspiracy theory, how about you just simply come clean with the players and explain truthfully why this information was taken away. The consumer has a right to know how and why their service they are paying for is being limited. If EQ2 was a free service, then i can understand. But it isnt.

Also, playing coy and telling the readers here "to ask specifically for what they are looking for" rather then just answer straight up why this information was taken away is kinda cruddy.

Shainaen,

The character window was a debug/testing window. If you hunt for threads here or on the official forums you'll likely find that explanation several times. I wasn't trying to hide that information; rather, I was trying not to beat a dead horse and instead offer a solution to what I thought Sir Taleisin The Seer was really asking.

Most of the window had become obsolete or didn't work. We'd get questions why things weren't working on it and we made the decision to override the OnShow() method in code.

another thread

I also didn't want to come out and say that the community would never get any of the data because that isn't the way the EQ2 team operates. A strong argument for a particular piece of data means it will go on the task list. That's not to say we'll expose ever piece of data in the game but I'd regret saying never because we're happy to tip over our sacred cows to improve the game.

Haste% seems like a reasonable request. (from one of the official threads)

Displaying number of kills and deaths have been approved by design-- waiting to bubble up to the top. You can find it in game by using an object near the city gates -- but I can't say I know where it is located.

Landiin's list seems to contain very little controversy.

The inventory stuff is really hard to squeeze into the current dynamic data system. But "hard" really isn't a good deterrent. Equipment on the other hand seems like a very reasonable addition -- but not for everyone in your group. :)

Saying we'd like to add something though doesn't mean it will happen overnight.

I'll be happy to see some of these editions. Until then... I'll still be happy

Edit:
Also, before any of that, I'd sure like to have pet HP bars added to the group window :D

so does that mean the file will eventually be removed from the default UI? as well as all the pieces of the EQ1 interface and the original login?

also I'd like to lay in a few requests as I prep to leave the game.

Quest Journal:
+ sort by level

Quest Journal Collections:
+ hide finished
+ filter to current zone

Inventory:
+ personal bank log ( similar to guild bank logs )

IME:
+ explain what this does

ProxyActor:
+ Consideration towards player under name*
* this would replace the current red border around KOS mobs and I believe would be more immersive, would also eliminate the need for the /con command

ChatFilters:
( oldie but goodie )
+ hitsmode :-) pretty please

UI in general:
+ add PNG support ( I know the .doc for the UI developer says it will support PNG, when i made a UI of PNG it crashed me out of the game every time I tryed to log in )

Fix the icons in group window to allow the display of archetype like the raid window does without having to mouse over to update these icons when a group member joins/leaves.

SOE_Bobble 12-14-2005 02:24 PM

IME = Input Method Editor. If you are running the game in Japanese or Korean these windows let you type in Unicode characters.
