Unified installed but not loading in game
 

Long time DarqUI user here, but new to Unified and I feel like I'm missing something really obvious ...

On a new PC I installed Unified, it shows up in my UI directory, have the .ini file in my main EQ2 directory. I have to navigate to the appplication in the original unzipped installation file to open Unified (it didn't create an icon anywhere) but when I do it appears to be working. It installs updates and the character list is populated correctly, inventory works, "View EQ2.ini" brings up the correct file. But when I log into the game, there's no hint of DarqUI, everything is still vanilla EQ2.

What am I missing?

There is a second file in addition to eq2.ini that is read by the game when deciding which UI to load. eq2_recent.ini should also contain the custom UI name, in this case DarqUI_v3. Installing DarqUI and letting it become the default UI writes to both ini files. But if your game client was open when you did the initial setup, then eq2_recent.ini was overwritten (without DarqUI_v3) when you logged out.

At this point, the easiest way to get DarqUI to appear automatically is to type /loadui into the chat window, then choose DarqUI Unified from the list that appears. Now when you log out of the game, eq2_recent.ini will have DarqUI_v3 listed as your most recent UI selection, and it should load up from now on. If it's still giving you trouble, please post again and we'll get it figured out.

Also: The utility is a self-contained app; there is no installation to speak of. So you are using it correctly by double-clicking the unzipped blue icon.
