Blank maps.
Having an odd problem that just recently started happening. Some zones, the older zones like Nek forest commonlands and such have no POIs anymore. They are just blank maps. But Kylong plains have all their POIs. Sometimes Commonlands and Nek will have them but they are all screwy. For instance in the Commonlands the entrance marker for Nek forest will be in the middle of the commonlands clearly its not there. Any ideas?

In testing the POIFinder plugin I noticed that quite often the POIs don't show after you zone, you need to close and reopen the map window to get them to show.
And POIs like zone markers, which are part of the default UI, are in fact all over the place. Othesus made a post about that. As far as I understand, that is for SOE to fix, but I haven't really looked into it. You can disable the standard POIs via the [+] icon in EQ2MAP since currently they are basically useless. |
Even closing and opening the map window doesn't do anything. I have completely blank maps of like the sewers, Nek forest and what not and it makes me sad. I realized I am lost without this. I love it! hehe. Hope it is fixed soon.

Can you attach a screenshot?
It sounds like your EQ2MAP may be installed wrong. |
I'll get one up right now, It just recently started happening..

If you click on the World tab and click back do the custom POIs show up?
Your picture of the Commonlands map is showing a bug with the default icons that I outlined here: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/p...opic_id=394524 This is an SOE bug and I don't think we can fix it. You can camp back to the same character if you want. /camp Othesus |
Nah nothing happens when I do that. It only seems to happen on the older zones. It does it in Tenebrous Tangle aswell. But the new zones are just fine.

Delete your EQ2MAP files and reinstall.

Just so you know, it's happening to me as well - it started doing it about 2 days ago and I've tried all the solutions listed earlier - clicking the world window, relogging, etc. I tried reinstalling EQ2Map but didn't delete all the files first - I can do that next, though.

I deleted the images folder and the eq2 map folder had it re-downloaded everything nothing.

Ok, I ran around some in the game and I did see the problem in the Thieves' Way. I'm pretty sure it was working before so I'm not sure what's causing it.
What other zones do you see the map has no custom POIs? |
Othesus,
I just did a quick look and I don't see the QM_Process being activated anywhere anymore.. That would cause a problem. EDIT: NM.. I found it.. But the typo's in lines 238-240 of core_process might be part of the problem. |
Thieve's way, Commonlands, Nektulos Forest, Antonica, Tenebrous Tangle, Thundering Steppes. Pretty much most of the old zones do it. Sometimes they have POIs but very very rarely. But Kylong Plains has them and its no problem at all. Maps in cities seem to be working fine.

I've been questing in Zek and EL on my 35 character and have been without POIs most of the time.
At least on the positive side it has made me read and think about quests for change! ;). But yes, would be nice to be able to have them back hehe. Thanks so much for looking into this for us. |
I've found a fix...upon zoning into a zone with no POIs close the map out and re-open it. Had to do it a few times but got the POIs back for Nek Forest.
|
Actually yes, agree with the above poster. Hitting the map button a couple or few times seems to make the POIs come up.
Woot! Thanks haha :). |
Do any of you having this problem by chance use both (and I stress both) Treemos' POI Finder and jnils' POI Finder updater?

Any solution so far? Greetings, Joklos. |
The updater is unrelated.

I am having the same issues as mentioned above; older zones have no POIs at all. Also, in some zones the gross POI markers (such as the zone lines and griffon towers) show as being off by as much as a 2 minute run. Also, as I am a wizard, when I port from the RoK zones to older zones the map stays as the last zone I was in, such as porting from Kylong Plains to Commonlands retains the Kylong Plains map. Closing and opening the map does not help. Looks like someone has made a bug note on the SoE forums, but I'm not sure if this is a SoE problem per se, or a programatic change that is affecting the EQ2Maps mod. I'm not a programmer, but I will try my best to give what feedback I can to those that are.
-------------------------------------------------- I deleted the eq2map directory, then downloaded all the fines again. I have yet to go from a new (RoK) zone to an old (Shattered Lands) zone. As soon as the servers come back up I will do that and let you know what I find out. |
