Cannot see the maps, read the troubleshooter

Hey I just downloaded the new EQ2Map file that auto-updates (.97 beta). I ran it and all of it worked fine. When I got into EQ i was in EL and went to go check out the RV map, but nothing came up. I checked in my C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\Default\images\maps and it looked like I had all the DDS files like the troubleshooter said, but still nothing came up. I run Infranview as my default picture viewer. Could that possibly be the problem?

Anyway, thanks for the help.

P.S. - I run Windows XP if that helps at all.

if they are in your default folder than something is wrong, nothing should be going into the default folder from the updater because then eq will just overwrite files when the patcher runs. how is your eq2.ini file set up? and what directories are in C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\

This is how my eq2.ini file looks:

cl_ui_skinname default
cl_ui_subdir UI/

I also have a subdirectory in my default EQ2 UI folder that is called eq2maps, but it only has XML files in it. Should i move the DDS files to that folder?

your problem is that you dont have a custom interface folder, what you have done is told eq the your custom folder is the default folder. the point of having a seperate folder is so that the Everquest 2 patcher does not overwrite your custom files.

just delete your eq2.ini file and run the updater it will make it for you and create a custom folder named EQ2MAP in the EVerquest II\UI\ directory

Thanks a bunch man. It works like a charm now. I can't believe you're giving a free program out to people AND helping them with troubleshooting. Great work, I'll be sure to help our with PoIs if I find any.

thanks for the compliment, i enjoy programming so far, this is one of the first programs that i have written that is actually "useful" and i have learned alot from writing it. I believe in helping out a community, not sucking out all the money from the communnity
