Maps install question

I read the very brief instructions that came with the maps download..."Unzip EQ2MAP.zip into your custom UI folder with zip folder structure (use folder names) enabled."

I have a UI folder but no custom UI folder. Do I need to creat a custom UI folder? If so where? If I just want to use the standard UI will there be any problems or do I have to use a custom UI to use maps?

Thanks,
Tahoe

You must go to the UI folder and create a new folder within that. Name it MyMods or something easy. Unzip the download to that folder.

Go back to the EQ2 main folder. Make a copy of eq2_recent.ini and rename it to just eq2.ini. Open it up with Notepad, delete everything, and paste in the following:

cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname MyMods
ics_maxcameradistance 10.0

(The last line is optional, but you really do want it. ;))

Load EQ2, and you should have the maps installed.

yes, your system is just not set to display the file extensions for known file types.

Since you're not set to display the file extensions, be sure to rename it to "eq2" instead of "eq2.ini" (otherwise it'll really be eq2.ini.ini, which won't work).
