Help. UI Problem after patch

Ever since I patched (and many others are experiencing this problem to) I crash on the character loading screen. Both ThorUI and Fetish crash when loading into the world. Yet the default UI loads in without problems.

I was wondering if there was a fix for this, if anyone could come up with one, or why this is happening?

rena 07-20-2005 12:22 PM

i'm having the same problem as well =(

Pyrrh 07-20-2005 12:24 PM

Yep, here too. I've tried deleting modified skills windows and tracking windows to no effect.

DarkScales 07-20-2005 12:25 PM

Same Here

It would be nice if they would not cause UI to crash and/or notify registered UI developers a chance to upgrade their UI's BEFORE the servers are updated so we have uninterrupted game play.

We use these UI's for a reason as they are better then the default.

SOE needs to consider this before upgrading servers;

the problem is the eq2ui.xml file in your /UI/mod/ directory

often when they patch, their version adds to the list while our modified version does not, this can cause crashes

delete it for a temporary fix, or figure out which files to add/remove to/from the list to prevent the crash

Legolais 07-20-2005 12:29 PM

Having same problem here  , if anyone figures out a shortcut around having to use the default UI, please post.

balsadar 07-20-2005 12:30 PM

Just for the time being go into your eq2.ini and change the UI to Default until they update our UIs.

Pyrrh 07-20-2005 12:41 PM

Yep, its the EQ2ui.xml file. I haven't figured out what they've added yet, but using the default one will work until then. I wish they'd list that as one of their updated files...

Prevost 07-20-2005 12:43 PM

I saw that they added the following to the eq2ui.xml file.

<include>eq2ui_commonelements.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_textstyles.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_shadowstylesnew.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_specialelements.xml</include>
<include>eq2ui_windowelements.xml</include>

I added those to my own below the listing for gamedata and I loaded up fine. Thanks for the advice.

*edit oops forgot <include>eq2ui_arenachampions.xml</include> below Templates

Mateo 07-20-2005 12:44 PM

Problem with Default

Problem with default is it is not setup and takes time to reformat ur screen besides the fact it is not very useable that is why we use custom UI.

I will try the fix above and hope it works otherwise the game is unplayable for me until a fix is in place.

:(

Howlingmoon 07-20-2005 12:53 PM

I have put my own custom UI together using bits and pieces from all over the place. It took me forever to get it all setup and working well enough together and now I can't even login when using the custom. I have to use default and I can't stand default. Tis too big and I can't see where I'm going with all the same windows up that I usually have up.

Tobias 07-20-2005 12:54 PM

ok i've got it

if you have a custom UI, open your modded eq2ui.xml file and, in addition to the lines posted by the poster before me, add:

<include>eq2ui_arenachampions.xml</include>

that should take care of everything.

FetishExchange Breaks LU12

From what I've read, there are a few UI's that are breaking (causes everquest2.exe to crash back to the desktop) when loading the interface on zone-in.

Originally (before I saw this post), I was going one-by-one through my mods (I don't use a set, I've piecemealed mine together of features I like) and planned to just wait until Fetish came out with a new Exchange component. However, using the advice of Pyrrh, I kept my UI directory intact, but copied the eq2ui.xml file from \default into my UI directory, overwritting it. That, unfortunately, didn't work.

I then compared the Fetish eq2ui.xml to the SOE eq2ui.xml and discovered that the new eq2ui.xml had about 5 lines in it than the Fetish, and the Fetish had:

<include>_FetishStyles.xml</include>
<include>_FetishStyleSamples.xml</include>

So, I tossed those lines into the SOE version and, so far, the FetishExchange is working just fine.

Hope this helps!

Hey all,
I was at work and heard they pushed the patch today.
If you're having issues with the ThorUI it's most likely because you don't have the latest version 4.0 (I worked my tail off on testing this ASAP so no one would have issues at patch go live)
FYI: Version 4.0 has been available since the 15th :)

So please, if you're having issues with the ThorUI, please ensure you are using the latest version. (Version 4.0)
Note: You must uninstall any previous versions by clicking uninstall in control panel or the start menu ThorUI folder, then install the latest version.

If after ensuring you are using ThorUI v4.0 and you still have issues, please post those issues to the ThorUI discussion thread located here:
http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...0&page=1&pp=40

I am available and will respond ASAP as the last thing I want to do is have the ThorUI keep you from playing!

Thank you,

LOVE YOU GUYS *HUGS*

really annoying to sit down to play and NOT know why you cant get in. Everything helped me TY. How often should we check for your updates then? Being my first and only MOD, I am a bit slow at wondering if that was the problem....and I'd only been checking for updates sporadically. Love them tho..and will be here quicker next time

I'm notorious for atleast an update/enhancement a week "Which i'm sure I drive the EQ2Interface staff batty as they have to check every update submitted" (Thank you by the way :D )

I'd love to get an autoupdater going like the map interface to minimize the amount of work the user has to do but I don't have those resources as of yet.

From the user standpoint of updates, you really only need to update when you have a problem. But if you're into lots of goodies like me, you may want to check back once a week (atleast for the ThorUI).

Blacked out Xp Bars

OK I am using ThorUI Xp bar with Adv/Guild/Trade Xp listed you can read and see everything EXCEPT the progress bar which is blacked out.

Also I am using depechenode's advanced player window with the xp bar also built in, (yes I know redundant, but i love this window would like one without the xpbar in it) it is also Blacked out as described above.

This is after modifying the EQ2ui.xml as described further above.

Any Ideas?

barobrain 07-20-2005 03:07 PM

Thank you Tobias. That worked for me.

This worked like a champ. Thanks!

This is another one of those "Should be posted to the UI discussion thread" ;)
Either case, I'm not having an issue with the exp window.
Try this one (see attachment)
Maybe you have an outdated one or it's become corrupt somehow?
Just right click the link and "save as" and save to your custom UI folder whatever it may be called.

Let me know in the Interface Discussion Thread wether it works or not.
