LU 30 Hotbars

Anyone got a fix for today's new hotbars? The half inch dead space is a reall P*ss off.

Findarato 12-20-2006 09:32 PM

Under hotkey options.

FloridaFringe 12-20-2006 09:38 PM

That doesn't help any. No matter what if you resize the icons below a certain point (usually less than 40) then there is access background that extends below the icons regardless of Hotbar or Window settings.

I've spend several hours with the UI Builder trying to get rid of this dead space but I just can't figure it out. No matter what I do and no matter how good it looks in the builder the game just screws it all up.

IT...IS...A...BUG

FloridaFringe 12-20-2006 09:56 PM

I'm sorry I must have missed where it was mentioned as a bug. Could you please point me in the right direction so that I can be more informed. Thank you.

EDIT: Well I've looked through the posts on this board as well as the official EQ2 board and haven't found any that claims this is a bug, as in the type that SOE acknowledges and will eventually fix. I've also looked through all of your most recent posts and having found any pertaining to this issue. I don't understand where such a firm response from you came from but I guess that's another story.

Again, any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you kindly.

dragowulf 12-20-2006 10:01 PM

Obviously it wasnt done on purpose, otherwise it would of came in the patch notes, as well as eq2interface, interface GU30 notes

FloridaFringe 12-20-2006 10:05 PM

Considering that there are a lot of things that SOE does with the default UI that I don't agree with I would never assume anything in that regard.

If you say it's an obvious bug then I guess that it can't be fixed via the UI Builder and I'll just have to bug it from within the game.

Sorry to have upset you but that wasn't our intent.

BTW, the patch notes don't always cover everything. As a matter of fact I don't remember them saying anything about the new hotbar settings window at all.

FloridaFringe 12-20-2006 10:15 PM

Ok, I'm not so convinced that this is a bug as the default hotbar doesn't suffer from the same problem. Of course that hotbar has dead space but the background properly resizes in reference to your icon size. It doesn't leave a footprint behind.

If it's a bug then it has to do with the ability to mod the hobar to rid it of the deadspace. I'm not so sure that SOE will fix such a thing as that.

O'well, looks like it's back to the default as that has the least amount of dead space at this point.

DeaDBeaT 12-20-2006 10:50 PM

Mine are working fine, no dead space and resize correctly.

Hotkeys

FloridaFringe 12-20-2006 11:36 PM

Thanks but it does the same thing for icons below size 35. I keep them at 28 on one account and 24 on the other so that doesn't help me personally. Thanks anyways.

DeaDBeaT 12-21-2006 12:19 AM

Okay reconfigured, should be good down to 20. Too late to test but should work.

One caveat; the spinner is sized for 28 so it will be cut off.

That's my current hotbar look (It's a little small, but you can still see my problem). It's default keys at size 22 with no borders. That's not acceptable.

I'm hoping DeadBeat's works.

Its great you may have found whats changed, but for us ppl dont have a clue how to edit that stuff its realy useless

FloridaFringe 12-21-2006 07:05 AM

I appreciate the time and effort DeaDBeaT but it still didn't work on my end. It's way too earlier for me to even think about looking at the code again but I know that once I get some coffee flowing that's all I'll be thinking about since this is something that will drive me insane if I even attempt to play the game with this issue. O'well. Thanks again for trying.

Kilaer 12-21-2006 09:31 AM

I am having same problem Floridafringe. I asked a few others in my guild and they aren't.

FloridaFringe 12-21-2006 10:03 AM

Are those members using a modded hotbar?

Same issue here with dead space under bar.

Bramwell 12-21-2006 12:11 PM

I have the same issue with the SOE hotbar. I use it at size 30 and once you get below a certain number(I think someone said 40 but I haven't tried. 40 is too big still anyway.) the hotbar background doesn't scale correctly with the icons so there is overlap. Although the overlap is all around the bar rather than just below it like the picture above me. Once someone who uses their hotbars at this size fixes/mods the problem I am sure they will post a new hotbar for us to download. It is annoying though as click through doesn't solve it. Just give the modders a little time. The LU came out yesterday. Until then I guess I will have to use larger icons or have a little space between the bars.

FloridaFringe 12-21-2006 12:26 PM

Oh, I'm all about patients in regards to giving the modders as much time as they need. I was just trying to explain the current issues as I've spent hours trying to mod out the dead space and couldn't. The normal procedures for doing so just aren't working any more. So in essence I was just trying to give them a heads up.

Also, the dead space that you are experiencing with the default hotbars is normal and has always been there. The problem with the custom hotbars is that instead of eliminating this dead space it simply takes all of it and puts it at the bottom of the bar. Very strange behavior.

So please don’t take my persistence as a claim that the roof is falling and that none of the modder care. Instead, it’s just me being persistent on an issue that boggles my mind since I can’t seem to mod out the problem. It’s just frustrating to spend so much time in the UI Builder for everything to look great and then get into the game to see it completely different.

Sundive-Ocelot 12-21-2006 06:29 PM

I've tried modded hotkeys and default, they give the same problem Florida. So I don't think it's limited to just modded hotkeys.

FloridaFringe 12-21-2006 06:33 PM

I didn't have this problem with the default hotbar. It still had dead space but the same as it always did and it was an even dead space around the entire bar. I've only had this problem with modded hotbars and all of my various attempts at modding the current default hotbar. As a matter of fact, I went back to using the default hotbar for now since the evenly spread out dead space is a bit easier for me to deal with. Although I'm going to go back and just change my hotbars to a 2 row / 6 slot configuration for the time being since that doesn't have this particular issue.

Sundive-Ocelot 12-24-2006 02:14 PM

The scrunched screenshot I posted a few lines up is what default 2x6 looks like without spinners and borders, padding at 0 and set to size 22. It may be even on 1x12 but 2x6 with any size less than 35 results in the same thing. I hope the mod devs do something about it by LU 31.

Sundive-Ocelot 12-24-2006 02:17 PM

Nevermind. It's a dead issue now. Thanks Mortis
