Ms says that if it works on Vista it works on Win 7.
Im using vista 64 without any problems, so i dont think win 7 is the problem.

Maybe try installing it to a directory other than C:\Program Files? I haven't tried the beta yet either, but things get a lot less buggy in Vista when you install in places other than there.

I have to agree with this person. Even when I was running XP I had EQ2 and anything else that I valued on an external hard drive. When I went to install Vista , when it came to EQ2 , all I had to do was download the Station Launcher again and tell it where EQ2 was and I was good to go.
I have been thinking of trying Windows 7 myself and if I do, I hope I don't have too many issues.

Install in another directory

Well you guys were correct i installed to the root C: and eq2maps worked flawlessly. So far win. 7 is pretty good seems very stable and looks great.

Thanks for the help
