Launchpad

Okies this driving me nuts.... I now have eq2 installed on drive "D:\Program Files\Sony\"

so why does lauchpad insist on installing and running its files from "C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\Launchpad" A directory that it decides to make insted of just placeing its "station" folder on the "D" drive where it should be??

Does this happen with everyone that has eq2 installed to a different drive other than "C" ?

If so is there anyway to stop the bugger from doing this ? (I been through and changed the paths in its xml files but it just changes them back)

Thanks

Did you install eq2 in that location the 1st time you installed it and then move it to drive D: later on?

If so open up your registry with regedit and braws to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\everquest2.exe

In there you will find local paths to everquest2 change them to reflect the new path.

You also may need to edit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\everquest 2.exe

I don't know if it reads info from here or not to deside where to put stuff, but worth trying I guess.

Also <%PROGRAMFILES%> is probably set to c:\Program Files

Thanks for the response m8..

But I been through all that aswell.... as for <%PROGRAMFILES%> its all set to point to "D" but everytime I run eq the launcher changes its path to "C" but it still knows to patch the game on "D" .... Its just the launcher that forces itself onto drive "C" lol ..... Yeh I know its not a major hangup but It would be kool to keep all the junk in one location likes hehe..

Oh and yes I did a clean install of my system and installed eq2 to drive "D" and copied over my char settings etc and UI folder into the new location.. oh and maps

Yes, the launchpad is both retarded and apathetic to your desires.

Go to the directory that EverQuest is installed in.
Right-click on EQ2.exe and choose Send to->Desktop (create chortcut)
Close the window, go to the Desktop, and use the Shortcut to EQ2 to launch the game.

Thats not what their talking about Zounia, but thanks for wanting to help.

These guys are talking about the fact that even though they move their EQ2 install to another drive the SOE Launch Pad software re-installs it self in the default location when they load EQ2. They want the launch pad software to run from their other drive too. They arnt having trouble with shortcuts. :)

Thanks for all the response guys its appriciated :)

Somthing else I found out about the launchpad is if you run it directly and log on its a launchpad for other soe games as well, so eq2 must run it with switches to just check for updates to eq2 and you never see the other stuff untill you start to mess with it that is lol.... All kinnda makes sense now, and I can understand why it forces itself onto drive "C"
