How to install anything?

I know its really noob question but i really tried to find something about it.

I have Auto attack bar and Defiler monitor

I dont use any custom UI, i just wanted those two running.

Make a folder in your UI folder call it what ever you want. I will call it for this example CustomUI. Next add the files from both of the mods you like to that folder and that's it.
Next in your EQ2 Directory find eq2.ini Make it look like this

cl_ui_skinname CustomUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Save it and start eq2 it should only load up the 2 files u picked and the rest should be default. In some cases you may have to add
<incluce>THECUSTOMADDONNAME.xml</include> to the eq2ui_custom.xml
Read the Info on the addon you picked from there page it will tell you most of the time. The eq2ui_custom.xml also needs to go in your CustomUI Folder
Example of the eq2ui_custom.xml is
Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Page IgnoreTab="false" ismodule="true" Name="Custom" PackSize="1,1" PackSizeProp="0002/0003,0002/0003" ScrollExtent="1024,768" Size="1024,768" Visible="false">
<include>THECUSTOMADDONNAME.xml</include>
</Page>

post your eq2.ini
also there should only be *.xml files in your UI/CustomUI folder (besides maybe an image folder)
I need to know the name you picked for your Custom UI folder too
I did miss a Part once your ingame u need to lload the UI at least once it will load from there on
Type /loadui CustomUI (or what ever u named it)

Detailed decription of howto

Quote:

Current Install Steps:

1. Download the interface you wish to use
2. Make a new folder with any name BUT with no spaces or special characters (example: customui) in the UI folder that is inside your Everquest II directory.
3. Unzip the xml, dds, tga (dds,tga's must be in a images sub-folder) files into your newly created folder. Please make sure you don't have a folder inside of a folder when you do this. %\Everquest II\UI\bobsui\jillsui\*.xml (wrong) | %\Everquest II\UI\bobsui\*.xml (correct)
4. If you are going to use multiple interface pieces just unzip all of them into the same folder.
5. Go back to your Everquest II directory and create a new text file and put the following code inside of it:
Code:

cl_ui_skinname bobsui
cl_ui_subdir UI/

6. Save the file as eq2.ini (make sure you dont save it as eq2.txt or eq2.ini.txt)
7. Load up Everquest II and your new interface should be working.

Once they fix the /loadui command using custom interfaces will be ALOT easier and these steps will be updated.

From what you say i tried, i have everything like you saying.
i type in game /loadui CUI, game hangs for half sec and nothing. still i dont see expected things :/

Its all weird. i feel something somewhere is set wrong.

DiggityMan 10-21-2010 08:34 AM

post ur eq2.ini there is no other way to do it

Nerfpl 10-21-2010 08:40 AM

Code:

cl_ui_skinname CUI
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Landiin 10-21-2010 09:35 AM

Actually /loadui now addes a line to eq2recents.ini telling the game what UI to use. The setting in eq2.ini will overrule any settings in eq2recents.ini. So if you don't have any setting you want perma saved there is no reason to use eq2.ini any more.

Sorry i cant be any help then i don't know what you are doing wrong if u followed the direction's you shouldn't have had any problem what so ever.
Again i am sorry. If you have the files(both addons and eq2ui_custom.xml) in the CUI folder and your eq2.ini looks fine then all should work. There is nothing special we aren't telling you about.
also remember everything will look as default. As you are using the default UI still only things changed are the auto attack bar and most time with spell timer window's as for me.
I have to type /show_window Custom.WINDOWNAMEHERE once in a while (Yours will be /show_window Custom.DefilerMonitor) try to type that on login to see if a window shows. If not
sorry i couldn't help you
