I knew SOE was trying to hide something.

this is irrefutable proof there is life beyond norrath or the Ro Solar System.

Incase it wasn't obvious, this was a bored in photoshop inspired spoof

How is the Oblivion graphics compared to Eq2 btw? Is it better, same? (since it is not the same graphic engine).

that is really a tricky question you're asking, you have to consider that Oblivion's engine is ment for a single player. So in many respects the TES:4 engine is far better and prettier than EQ2's, however if it were to be used in a MMO like EQ2 the devs would have to tone it down and reduce CPU useage to allow for other MMO information to be processed more quickly.

below is a sample of post-combat pre-looting. Keep in mind I have complex lighting turned off and texture details on medium, I will try and get a high deff screenshot taken soon, but SETI doesn't like to give up too much proc power ( btw the game runs smooth even with programs like SETI in the background )

Indeed the graphics look already nice at this resolution. I just find the corpse position a bit...weird, and the UI...well nevermind I guess some fellow players will patch that asap :)
And what about the gameplay (beside the nice implementation on traps)?

the position of the corpse I can explain, using one of the vampiric spells I took over that battlemages mind and had him stand against a wall, where I promptly fired a arrow through his head.. he slumped down along the wall.

the UI is hardcoded :-(

the gameplay is great, Oblivion was written to take advantage of the new physics processor cards comming out at the end of this year, implimentation without having such a card isn't very smooth, but the collisions are RL equivs.

Exploration is alot of fun in this game... the only downside is the world is kinda small for my tastes, maybe future expansions will expand it.

currently screenshots are broken, I think installing the construction set has hindered the ability to take screenshots ingame, I am currently investigating a way to fix it.. but, I can assure you with AA4 sampling on, I noticed no FPS differance than with it off, however you cannot enable HDR lighting ( can still use bloom ) nor will the havok tree shadows properly render.. minor bugs all of them.

Oblivion is a very very nice game to await the arrival of Vanguard on.. I haven't noticed the shakes or jitters of MMO-withdraw in a few days now.

I just bought a house in the vampire city.. very nice, if you go and buy stuff for your house it is delivered and setup when you get there ( you cannot move furniture, which bothers me. Nor can you drop money on your bed and sleep on it ).

ingame screenshots work fine you just have to edit the .ini file.

Unlock Print Screen (PRTSCN) button
There is a setting in the INI file:
bAllowScreenShot=0

change to:
bAllowScreenShot=1

Also, two related items for the screenshots:
iScreenShotIndex=0
SScreenShotBaseName=Oblivion

There are two INIs, one in the game folder called "Oblivion_default.ini", this is the one it uses to generate the REAL one....
My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini

Edit the first one if you want to default to having screenshots on by default for all users. The settings it uses at runtime are the ones from My Documents folder.

After you mod the INI file, you can press PRTSCN button and Oblivion will write a BMP file to your game folder.

I know, I have it all enabled properly, it's just not taking screenshots.

Nice shot hehe. I managed to get a rat right between the eyes at like 40 meters distance. Pure luck, of course, but it was a joy to see the little gnat tumble backwards with the arrow sticking out of its annoying little head. :p

Ah ok, so for you Oblivion = offline eq2 addon until Vanguard release ^_^;
Guess it seems to be the same for FFXII which I heard is a FFXI offline...sort of. Might have a try on them all anyway, they look good in general.

I've figured it out, for some reason I can't take screenshots with bloom or HDR lighting enabled.... /ponder

on another note, there is rumor of a EQ1 type mod to Oblivion ( I think someone is trying to build a Kelethin for the woodelfs ). hope this comes true :-D

here are some shots of me taking the sigil stone and closing my third Oblivion gate.
