Player housing question

Does everyone have the chance to get an apartment style home for free?
Is it only the larger homes that require payments and are limited?

Averad 10-28-2004 01:53 PM

All homes require a small payment for upkeep.

Tinr 10-28-2004 03:09 PM

Ahhh.. I was under the impression that the started aptments were free.

Thanks for the info...are all the houseing limited or if someone buys the game 2 months from now can they get a place? All of your toons can use the same house?

Findarato 10-28-2004 06:25 PM

all houses are currently instanced. So you can always get a house.

The upkeep is due every week, not sure what happens if you let the house go for a coupple weeks and not pay. Not sure there, I do know the next time you go in after your week is up you have to pay, or collect your items and leave.

Stilletto 10-28-2004 06:48 PM

Heh ya that would be bad to be evicted from your eq 2 home lol!!
I wonder if there is any housing authority or renters laws hehe!!!

I just read a faq that said no race abilities like troll regen 8( and no shared bank!! so ya have to hand off to a friend and hope ya really know um to get an item to another one of your toons? The money change is a good thing i think... 1/100 instead of 1/10 so 100 gold = 1 plat

I can see it now... you get evicted from your EQ2 home for missing rent due to too much time being spent in RL.. theres irony for ya

Hopefully sony has though of that.

Tinr 10-28-2004 07:15 PM

hope so that would make sense unless you were out adventuring for along time.. " OH NO I gotta get home to pay the rent sorry guys g2g" LOL

Tinr 10-28-2004 07:28 PM

That is too funny Stelletto.

The basic appartment costs 5silver every week, if you don't pay you are not able to enter the appartment. Actualy, the button to enter the appartment turns into the "pay upkeep" button.
You have to pay it manualy, it's not possible to save up money, if you go on vacation for i.e. 3 weeks, you have to pay 15sp before you can enter your apparment.

What about storing items? Can you store items in your house or in some kind of furniture at your place?

nope can't store things there.
see thats the problem i have with my house...
I'm like "great i have a house.... now what do i do with it?"

well ok.. i think you can put tradeskill things in there.. but what if you dont tradeskill?

you can add a bunch of junk to it (furniture, better walls, lamps) that have no function at all.

You can sell stuff from it... but i don't have anything of value....

so i just let the upkeep build up.. i have no use for my house right now...
I think soe knows this, and i think that why the baby dragons and other collector edition stuff is "for your house"

VampDude 10-28-2004 11:52 PM

Hmm, interesting. Hopefully SOE will release some kind of update in the future that will allow you to store stuff in there. Im reminded of Morrowind.

insomniac 10-29-2004 12:02 AM

I'm pretty sure they intended for you to put things in your house, but now you can't and in every qeynos area i've visited there's a banker next to the house door.. so i don't think it's happening anytime soon.

Sole 10-29-2004 04:19 AM

Anyone know something about the guild houses, what's the deal with that?

zheer 10-29-2004 04:29 AM

storage

I beleave (not being a trade skiller yet) that you can put crafted chests in your home that are storage devices. I think i read a article on that from the devs. I am not 1005 sure it works yet but they are also planning TS stations that can be put in your apts. also you use your house to sell from, (no more bazaar ).

Feebb 10-29-2004 09:32 AM

When I first got to Qeynos, I had to rent a room (as part of becoming a citizen I believe). Is this different from buying a house? If not, how do you find your place? It's been awhile since I've been home lol.

Your apartment is where you left it, in the Inn of your noob town. (In Qeynos for gnomes, haflings would be the Baubleshire, etc. In freeport Longshadow's alley, etc.)

You would probably owe a couple of weeks maintenance so be ready to fork over some of that hard fought silver.

Esperant 10-29-2004 01:51 PM

WOAH people... WOAH.... settle down there. LOL

Houses = Worth it

Crafting = if you're not one... whats wrong with you? I made lots of money crafting and you better believe I'm starting the game off being a crafter while everyone else tries powerleveling with crap gear!

Houses = Yes you can eventually store gear in there with chests and the like

Houses = Yes you can sell your crafting items from your house

Houses = Yes, higher upkeep houses ROCK and you can host meetings there before you get your guild hall.
