/set_emote_voice

I have an idea for a character I want to roleplay, but it'll require turning his emote voice off and on depending on when he's got his helmet on. I noted the /set_emote_voice command, and tried it, but nothing seems to make it do anything. Numbers, titles, nothing. Can anyone figure this one out?

You cannot control whether other people hear it, but if you want to mute it for yourself the command I use in ProfitUI is /vocal_volume. I am not familiar with the command you refer to but from its name I suppose it is for selecting the type of voice as you can do on the persona window.

Yeah, I know. That's what it's obviously for, just can't figure out the correct useage.

You can turn off your character's voice emotes by selecting <None> for the voice. With this set, emotes are old-school, action-only emotes, which is what I'd use when the character's helmet was on, as if his voice is too muffled to hear clearly.

To set it to the first option, you can use /set_emote_voice true

Nothing that I have tried will do anything other than that though.

If you can't figure it out beyond that, try to /bug it. Maybe they'll address it in GU99. :-P

I'm sure if the character's configuration files in the EQ2 folder weren't compiled into jibberish, it'd be an easier process.

Ah ok, now I get it.

The selected emote voice is actually stored on the server, but I agree with the general point, I never understood why that file is not XML when everything else about the UI is...

Looks like the "true" isn't even needed. Just typing the command itself causes it to be set to the 1st voice. Bah. What a useless command.

Drumstix42 02-27-2008 10:39 AM

That could just be the default argument. What happens if you put false? ;)

pooka 02-27-2008 11:27 AM

true (or blank) --> will set to first option after <none> if already there, won't change
false --> nothing
1 --> nothing
0 --> nothing
true 0 --> nothing
true 1 --> nothing
true <none> --> nothing
<none> --> nothing
true [name of voice option] --> nothing

:-P

For me, on a wood elf, any parameter I tried would set it too the wood elf voice, which was the last or second to last choice I think.
