My work is done!

The moment has come for me to retire from active EQ2 UI modding and to put ProfitUI Reborn to rest.

I originally took up modding to improve my game experience and in the process hopefully yours, too. However, I have not been playing the game for so long now that I feel it is time to step back and let others take over. ProfitUI has been kept alive by this great community before and I am sure that it will happen again. And of course there are many other great mods available here, maybe this is an opportunity to check them out.

Big thanks once more to Kaldran for programming, hosting and supporting the ProfitUI updater. I'll leave the decision what to do with it in the future to him. Many thanks also to everybody who contributed to ProfitUI over the years. It was a good experience to be running the ProfitUI Reborn project since March 2006, I very much enjoyed it, but my work is done now. I'm looking forward to see it be reborn once more by others!

I'll be around. :)

Wow seriously? Hate to see you leave. You have really done so much with EQ2MAP for the UI/Modding community. Hell if it wasn't for you I wouldn't know half of what I know now about the UI and xml.

At any rate, we will all miss you and your coding skills. I use ProfitUI and I might consider reviving it since I have learned so much and I know and understand most of what you have done with it. We'll see in the near future.

Thank you for your devotion and everything you have done up to this point in time. Your work will continue to influence me.

Drop by and chat every now and then!

This is a sad day. I love profit and hate to see you go. I surely hope someone picks up the project and keeps it alive and well.

Broya 04-09-2009 09:42 PM

gm9 you have helped so many people and brought so much to the EQ2 UI modding community. I just want to thank you for everything you have done. If there is anything I can do for you in the future please do not hesitate to ask.

/salute gm9

Take care gm9. I hope that you find some more coding opportunities to be a part of in the future. It is people as yourself who directly aide the formation of a strong community such as this.
I'm sure there will be those who can step up and get the ProfitUI through all the game updates :D

Thanks for the help, the ideas, and the GM interactions that you've been a part of. Hope to see ya still browsin' the forums here and there.

Ah nuts. :(

Sorry to see you go, but thanks for all the work you've done with the ui. I've been using it for years and greatly appreciate it! :)

Hope it'll stick around for some time longer, and that SOE doesn't horribly break it with their ui revamp coming up in the next year (i don't post much, but i lurk about in forums and i've read the discussions in the dev section on these boards about refreshing the EQ2 ui :D )

All the best to you gm9!

 Who's going to answer all of my coding questions?

Can I assume that you aren't giving up MMORPGs all together? So what game are you playing?

Well thanks for all the help and good luck with what ever you choose to pursue.

Castonu 04-10-2009 10:47 AM

You have done a great service in making Profit for the masses and keeping it updated. It is a wonderful UI and almost indispensable for so many players. I am sure it takes a huge amount of time to keep up with all the changes.

Thanks for all that you have done gm9!!

Dragonsveil 04-10-2009 01:27 PM

As a user of ProfitUI Reborn, I just wanted thank you for all of your effort in improving and modding this UI. It has made the game much more enjoyable for me and my better half as we both use it daily. We have turned tons of friends onto it as well the past three years.

Your contribution has been great and will be sorely missed but thanks again for all that you did with it :)

And we all thank you for all your hard work, your patience with some of the less knowledgeable, and your diligence in maintaining several EQ2 mods. Good luck in all your endeavors.

Hallo gm9,

I'm currently spending my days on MyBrute - no, just kidding (but everybody make me a pupil anyway) - I've actually been flying around space a bit in EVE Online recently (no UI modding possible there but I already wrote a couple of small apps for it...).
