Quest Journal Helper

I like doing tradeskill rush orders. I have used the UI mods that are available, love the search features. But I cant seem to find a quest journal helper that will expand and show all needed recipes for rush order. Not even going back to default will help. What the problem is...when you expand window to see all works great first time. When you go to do next writ expanded window only shows a small portion of it and tons of black empty space (which you then still need to scroll to see all) then you lose everything and cant see any of it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Odd. When using Fetish I can expand the quest helper downwards to show pretty much the entire quest and it stays that way, and I assume the default would be the same. So you're saying the window is staying expanded but acting like its the small size, for you?

JAnder2386 02-17-2008 03:45 PM

Yes, after the first time I use it expanded. When I get new writ it acts as though it is smaller.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what's going wrong. Can you also post a screenshot of the quest text being cut off, that might give me a clue as to what is going on.

Amazing that a picture can so much better describe this hehe!
Moved the window to the center and made it non transparent for the screen shot purpose only.
See the dead space there? I cant get it to show me all the recipes at once.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Does this only happen with you tradeskill writs???? Looks/Sounds like a bug to me

JAnder2386 02-19-2008 12:47 AM

Well, I never even thought to see if it did it with other quests. So I found the longest quest I could find (a L&L) and guess what it doesnt do that! Wow you are so SMART! Yay! So now the hard part. I send in a /bug report and wait 2 years for a fix? Guess I will just deal with it. Thanks so much for your help much appreciated!

Yep, no problem. I suggesting PMing Rothgar on this forum and/or the official forum. If you get no reply I suggest making a thread in the official forum.

From my experience /bug reports do work, it's just that some bugs are not fixed immediately.

Btw anybody tried a writ with ProfitUI (drago?)? The last time I did a tradeskill writ was a while ago, but I had no issues back then.

I'll check

I use Othesus Active Quest Helper, and I see the exact same behavior, so I don't think the problem is client-side. I notice it most often on tradeskill writs, but there may very well be other quests/quest types affected also.

gm9 02-19-2008 11:59 AM

Oh it's clearly a bug with the (client side but not UI file controlled) resizing of the container for the quest details, I wasn't suggesting otherwise.

I was just wondering if this was a newly introduced bug and if all UI are affected - sometimes you are far enough removed from default UI code to not be affected by bugs like these - I doubt it though.

Hehe, I wasn't implying that you were implying...I was mostly agreeing. :D As for me, I really started noticing this after RoK went live, but I've been suffering in silence (I know, shame on me for not /bugging it).

gm9 02-19-2008 07:09 PM

Oh well I thought it was funny (in a nerdy kinda way - the pet I mean, read the text)

dragowulf 02-19-2008 07:17 PM

not funny......;)

gm9 02-20-2008 05:46 AM

Ah, probably. It made me snicker when I read that the first time because it wasn't intended. ;)

You, Zoltaroth, and Domino have already changed my opinion quite a bit ago, /grin.

I guess not everyone is as easily converted, though :D

I was thinking the same thing. Especially Domino because she really interacts with the community and takes time to listen.

SOE-Rothgar 02-20-2008 07:16 PM

Fixed and will go live with GU43. I also moved some of the controls around so the spacing was a little more uniform.

When this goes to test you'll probably want to check your custom windows to make sure they are working fine.

JAnder2386 02-28-2008 11:04 AM

Wow! Yes opinions are changing. Sorry to be so negative but, I was just going on past experiences. I agree Domino is the bestest hehe. She has done sooo much for tradeskillers. Now I will have to add you, Rothgar to the list of wonderful people at SOE that do care about us EQ2 players. THANKS so much for looking into this and adding the fix to to the upcoming LU is it GREATLY appreciated!
