PoI Filter suggestions

Don't suppose those working on EQ2maps could just have the Filter PoI option only filter-out the icons displayed on the map/mini-map without removing search results for those PoI's could we?

Another thing that could be possibly improved upon is the over-lapping icons (even when zoomed all the way in).

Maybe remove redundant info and zoneline markers. And consolidate tightly grouped PoI icons into one, adding in identifying icons (red crosswords for named, page for page harvest..ect) within the tooltips window for that consolidated PoI. And instead of automatically creating a waypoint to the location, clicking on the consolidated PoI icon would open up a search result with all the individual PoI's listed from that consolidated PoI.

The mini-map consolidated PoI's on the other hand should just create a waypoint to the location of the PoI on the map (would get annoying having the main map pop-up everytime with the search results).

Keep in mind, these are just some of my thoughts. I still think the map system and maps are looking great so far. :)

POIs used to be consolidated into 'clusters' before -- it was messy, a pain, and generally unwanted by most so it was dropped. I don't forsee us going back, especially with filtering back in.

As for removing redunant info and duplicated zone markers... report the POIs as bad on the maps.eq2interface.com website and an EQ2MAP team member will remove the duplicate. I try to clean up obvious overlapping duplicates when I see them, but POIs are user-submitted so cleanup is user-participation as well ;)

Not sure if we can filter on the map while maintaining them in the search results... I'll let one of the guys more familiar with that code answer there, but my initial guess is 'no can do' just because of the way the filtering / search works.

no can do. ;)

Also it makes sense the way it is, there is no value in seeing a search result which you cannot display and click to get a waypoint.
