Cannot get v. 1.0.13 to work
Hope someone here can help, I have had a look through the other posts here and tried everything (completely uninstalling EQ2map and deleting all files/ running regcleaners etc..)
When i install EQ2 map autoupdater i get the following errors Unknown Error: EQ2MAP_Updater at EQ2MAPUpdater.GlobalVariables.ReadConfigValues() at EQ2MAPUpdater.MainWindow.FormMain_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnCreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ContainerControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)Object reference not set to an instance of an object. and maps ingame do not work i am running windows XP The maps all work fine on my other comp, which has the same setup |
Darn, i thought i fixed this one :(
Ill need to search some more then :mad: *grumble* |
if it helps, I just ran the patcher again. Went into the options and re-downloaded all files.
now getting these errors Unknown Error: EQ2MAP_Updater at EQ2MAPUpdater.GlobalVariables.ReadConfigValues() at EQ2MAPUpdater.Options.Options_Closing(Object sender, CancelEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnClosing(CancelEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.CheckCloseDialog(Boolean closingOnly)Object reference not set to an instance of an object. and the patcher seems to get into a loop, not everytime i try to close the windows it generates another error window and i have to go to task-manager to close them |
as a work-around , i have copied all the eq2map files from the install on my other computer onto this one.
the maps work fine, except the map backgrounds are plain white. All the POI dots etc..are ok though. Any ideas of anything i can do to restore the backgrounds? |

Ok thanx.
Question: If you delete the eq2map_config.cfg file , do you still get this error when you close Options window? |

found the folder that the eq2map_config.cfg file file should have been in, it wasnt there so I go a friend to mail me a copy of theirs. And now it all works fine :)
Seems the install was not creating this file for some reason. Thanks for the help all :) |

As soon as I open EQ2Maps
I am sure this has already been pasted, but when I search the forums, I have yet to see a clear solution. As soon as I open the latest version of EQ2Maps (1.0.13) I get the following error message:
Unknown Error: EQ2MAP_Updater at EQ2MAPUpdater.GlobalVariables.ReadConfigValues() at EQ2MAPUpdater.MainWindow.FormMain_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnCreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ContainerControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Getting an error after install

Seems like the database file is corrupt, try again to update, if that don't work you have to wait for the DB file to change on the server or delete the cache file in the program folder.
|
Thanks
Deleted the cache file and opened up EQ2Map again and it is pulling down the files again.
Thanks man.:nana::) Drigg |

XP Pro latest patch
I have updated to the latest versions of windows xp and 1.013 and when I start
it doesnt even begin to download. All I get is a error popup that says EQ2 updater has encountered a problem and must shut down. I did manually download all the maps and made the manual changes to eq.ini and the maps appear in-game just the auto-updater fails. Any suggestions? Chris |
Did it work with the old 1.0.6 version ?
|

Just had this same issue as of today. Yesterday it worked 100% right. Today, BOOM!, same error everyone else is getting. Very annoying.
Actually. This is a different error apparently, it just looks similar, due to the fact that the same xml file is causing it. My output is: Error Opening Database File: System.Xml at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Exception e) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(String res, String arg) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Throw(Int32 pos, String res, String arg) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseQName(Boolean isQName, Int32 startOffset, Int32& colonPos) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ThrowTagMismatch(NodeData startTag) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseEndElement() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseElementContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlLoader.LoadNode(Boolean skipOverWhitespace) at System.Xml.XmlLoader.ReadCurrentNode(XmlDocument doc, XmlReader reader) at System.Xml.XmlDocument.ReadNode(XmlReader reader) at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(XmlReader reader, Boolean denyResolving) at System.Data.DataSet.ReadXml(String fileName) at EQ2MAPUpdater.MainWindow.DownloadUpdates()Unexpected end of file while parsing Name has occurred. Line 646, position 40. I presume that, since I can't find it on my system, this is a server side file, which is loaded from the server, then used to execute the rest of the update? Looks like something is causing it to fail to download, fail to be generated properly, or some other glitch. |
Im not sure why this happends, but i have a fix for it in the next release :)
You can fix it if you delete the cache folder inside EQ2MAP Updater program folder.(Should also fix itself when it finds a newer version of the DB file) |
Too bad we can't do a packet trace on it while its trying to run. Ran into bugs like this for text muds and the client I use lets you look at the incoming and outgoing data, so you can see what broke. But, then that client is designed to "play" the game, not just update maps for someone else's. lol
Kind of odd, what ever is causing it, but at least it seems to have gone away after a few hours (I assume the DB updated in that time). Nice to know you have a fix for it though. |
It will detect this error , delete the file and tell you to retry :)
