No tooltips or waypoints in Rivervale after Expansion
Hi. I just logged in for first time after Echoes expansion. I was in Rivervale West. When I open map, there are POIs, but if you hover over them, no tooltip telling what the icon is, which also results in not being able to create a waypoint. I went to Rivervale East, with same result. I zoned out to Enchanted Lands, and tooltips show up fine. Logged back into Rivervale, still no tooltips. Anyone else have that problem? I tried reinstalling EQ2map, but didn't help. Is there a way to just reinstall a map?

I'm having the same trouble. I've dloaded all the updated files as of yesterday afternoon. Since they have launched EoF the tooltip works only very sporadically. More often than not I get nothing when mousing over the map and I can't click on any POI's to create waypoints. All I get in these cases is the NSEW arrow pointer???

I also have the same problems in Rivervale and Drafling Tower...haven't been to other zones yet to see if there are any problems though. Thanks in advance!

The Clefts of Rujark.............dots but no tooltips there either. Maps work perfectly for other DoF zones, just not dungeons, since EoF launch.

Unfortunately, please add Living Tombs to the list of zones missing map mouseover info.

I noticed this happening with my game in maps that aren't "main" areas... Example: Thieves way, the bloodskull area off of the commonlands, wailing caves, etc. But the commanlands poi all work... Hmmm... If I unlock the window and mouse ove the icons, I get the +, or move symbol to move the map window around, but no info for the icons...

Ok, I can't believe no one has picked up on this. The tooltips aren't working in any zone that wouldn't have a map if you never downloaded EQ2Maps. Most of these are dungeons.
I had to do "To Speak Like a Dragon" yesterday to get my Tunare cloak and what a royal pain in the behind it was to find where I needed to go in all the zones. It took me at least 6 hours extra to complete the quest because of this. I wonder if SOE did something to block EQ2Maps in these zones. |
Seems to be consistent with many zones
Areas that don't normally have maps ... seeing the same thing, the latest for me is crypt of betrayal

The same problem is happening in Living Tombs - all the courts. I can see the dots but I get no tooltips

They definately have changed the way maps work in EoF, so they might have altered the way those old maps work in some way.
I doubt SOE would deliberately try to stop this project, when they've "helped" with it in ways and supported it in a sense for so long. |
I'll send an email to Bobble at SOE and see what he thinks.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been in the new lands ever since so havent noticed it. I dont see anything wrong with our code so if any one finds any more info about this please let me know. It looks like it might be on SOE's end but I'm not sure. |

I'm a lowlevel player but so far Vermin Syne and Stormhold don't work, and there was 1 other dungeon I went in where it didn't work that I can't recall atm. But as has been reported it seems pretty consistant many/most are dungeons.
BTW I just wanted to thank whoever put EQ2MAP together because its the absolute best mod I've ever used, the wife and I love it!!! |
Fog of War is in fact a client inserted layer that absorbs input (blocks mouse-over and click) unless uncovered. Its quite possible the layer's visability is being hidden indoors but input absorption isn't.
Note: EOF brings the first "official" indoor maps to date. Good chance SOE tweaked the map code to accomodate something. Nothing new in the super/sub map setup for GF. |

Add RunnyEye to the list of no workng zones, was in there for the Staff of the Observers HQ and the waypoints where displayed with no tool tips, they still did not work after I ran through the whole zone.

Thank you all but we dont need any more posts confirming this or posting what zones are effected. We know what zones are effected and are awaiting word back from SOE. IF any one is able to find a work around please let us know. :)

Ok I do not know what i did , But the Tool tips for me are working. the only thing i did to day was use my Norton's Go-Back ..At the time I was locking up my Rig seconds after logging in. :cool:

Possible a patch was pushed out today. I'm at work today so I cant check. As a winXP roll back wont roll back EverQuest files.

I have confirmed this is DEFFINETLY a fog layer problem. (as of 11/20 4 PM PST)
I zoned into Fallengate. Though the fog wasn't visible, mouseover was blocked. I then used my special "Hide Fog" button to set the fog layer's visibility to "false" and mouseover worked. I then renabled the fog layer and mouseover was again blocked. Basically the Fog layer is set to visible even though there's no fog to show. My guess is that the complete lack of a fog datasource is resulting in the entire layer being treated as is it were fogged, thus blocking the icons below. I have reported this issue directly to the SOE UI manager and he's relayed the message to the developer dealing with the map. Untill this is fixed, you can try hiding the fog if the checkbox is available. If its not available, the following chat command may help... Code:

Ahh, that makes perfect sense Zonx.
I'm guessing they have the map coded so that the server sends what is _un_convered. If it gets no such data, it assumes it's all covered. |

Vault of the Fallen not working either, what I did though to counter this was run eq2 in windowed mode and open a window to this site and just pull up the maps from here while playing in another window.
Some of the UI changes from the last update not sure which one did it, but also settings to tooltips were changed around, I have been going around trying changing interface settings with no luck at all. *** User Interface *** - We’ve made a number of improvements to hotkey bars and inventory icons. In addition to improving functionality, these changes also improve client performance. - When you link an expendable item to your hotkey bar it will now display the total number of charges you have of that item in your inventory. - The chat window has undergone some appearance changes. Try it out! - The dialog box that displays your current slayer quest progress now has a scroll bar. - The skills information has been relocated to a tab within the persona window. - When chatting on a global channel, the chat channel number will be auto-replaced with the channel names while you are typing. - Significant changes have been made to the majority of UI XML files. - The default hover time to pop up a tooltip has been increased from 0 seconds to 0.25 seconds. - There is now a slider in the options window to control how fast tooltips appear over hotkey buttons. It defaults to 1 second. PS love eq2maps!!!!! |

Soulbyter, those tooltip changes aren't the problem with EQ2MAP.
And in Options > UI > Tooltips I think you can re-lower the tooltip delay. It just made it so that it wouldn't instantly pop up, but take a second. But me, I like those instant tooltips =) |

This command gets the fog button on the screen but it doesn't fix the mouseover tooltips for me at least.
I really miss this feature of the maps. :( |
