here is why my arrow wouldnt show up, methinks
from the last post with an attachment (eloa :) ) <ImageStyle Name="youarehereDot"> <ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/icons/icon_map3.dds" SourceRect="168,168,210,210"/> </ImageStyle> <ImageStyle Name="youarehere"> <ImageFrame Name="imageFrame" Source="images/icons/icon_map3.dds" SourceRect="210,168,252,210"/> </ImageStyle> icon_map3 should be icon_map1, at least thats what it is in the default folder |
he edited the icon and put it in map3, mine works fine, in commonlands at least, but it is also pushed. view icon_map3 and see if you have a new pointer in it, if not, thats the prob. (and was my prob)

This is my only post for a couple hours, just is gonna be a busy day.
Are there changes all over the place Eloa, or...? UIBuilder totally screws up the formatting making it really hard to read the xml in NotePad/WordPad. I'd been adding everyone's updates by hand and reformatting them for efficiency. For example, UIBuilder gives everything a ToolTip and LocalToolTip, effectively wasting twice as much space (some of the tooltips are lots of text) where only ToolTip is necessary. Also, it buries OnHoverIn in the middle of a line, so I have to scroll 5 miles to the right to see important properties of the icons. If there's stuff all over, I'll just go through and reformat it by hand, if not, I'll see about just cutting out the updated stuff and readding it. Was the icon_map3.dds issue resolved? I have no trouble seeing the arrow in any zone. Thanks for catching the misnamed map... whoops! Since I hiked to Antonica lst night, I'll finish up the Qeynos newbie areas today. Quib |
my antonican arrow works fine.
oakmyst forest map works great. looks like we need some icons in wailing caves. If I knew it better I would add them but I grew up on the good side. Wailing Caves: -Pit of Death: -50.64, -14.57, -189.41 -Advisor's Room: -63.55, -39.81, -62.04 -To Commonlands Zone: -0.76, -1.49, -5.56 The map switches right when its suppose to! Fantastic! |
You guys are doing so much work on this project - it is amazing to see all of you working together in such a positive way. Thanks to all of you for putting this effort into making what looks to be an incredible ingame map for the community at large. I hope you all get deserved praise for your work here. :)

well i got the tool done for doing calculations it does zonerect as well as doing a calculation that tells you what to put for the xml ui location property if you give it the in-game location, the map's zonerect, and the icons width/height. it is at http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?p=6065 you can download it there. it took quite a bit longer that i expected but i think it will be well worth it.
post any questions comments or suggestions over there. |
I love you taco-man. Ok, here's my latest XML, it should have all of Eloa's new data, shoot me if it doesn't. I just had to have the xml in my whacked format so I can keep editing it by hand. I'll start on the other Qeynos newbie zones after I eat lunch.
Quib P.S. - Thanks for the praise Killarny, I think I can safely speak for all of us and say we're having fun doing this. |
Oh I was wondering, why is Stormhold the only map choosable from the list? Is it special?
|
Only multi-level dungeon that's been set up for it so far.
|
That, and it was a test run. I think I'll go ahead and make most maps choosable in that list (eventually), and their tooltips will show the icon's loc value (so you can load the map and tell a friend a loc, in case they don't use this map). The maps in the choose list use the same instance of the maps the "Current Zone" tab uses, so there's not really much memory wasted, except on duplicated icons.

Ok, here's the caves, both floors, with a button to switch floors like with Stormhold. It was a nasty job setting up the map, but it's the first zonerect that I made using taco-man's zonerect calculator. It worked great taco-man! Any problems with the map not lining up 100% with your location are due to the crummy maps, taco-man's program worked brilliantly.
Quib P.S. - As soon as The Forest Ruins and Stormhold are done, I'll package it all up, make sure everyone gets proper credit, and get it submitted to the downloads section as our first official release. |
Do you have to be in the actual zone to make the map appear? I installed this and thought I'd fiddle with it while in vendor mode but all I got was the icons, no maps.
|
:nana: :nana: :nana: I'm so glad all that effort payed off and it worked like it was supposed to! i was worried that i had done someone wrong, figured out the formula for the second part incorrectly, or made a some stupid mistake like forgetting a negative somewhere(i hate when that happens as it takes forever to find)
Its a birthday present, since its my 18th birthday today, but its a backwards present if ya know what i mean. |
Pixi, make sure your maps are in a subfolder called images, and in another subfolder called maps
C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\UI\myui\images\maps\map_fprt_graveyard.dds the only map you can choose without zoning in is Stormhold. Why? Because we all got excited when we got it to show up when you zone in. That way you can see cursor. We (or at least I) plan on makin it also available without zoning in. All you'd have to do is tell it to show the map, then point it to the icons page used from zoning into it. That way you use the same icon page for both zoning in and viewing it. |
I've been putting all my maps in my eq2/ui/default/images/maps directory figured no harm since they aren't overwriting game maps, probably bad practice that I should rectify. Great work guys!

I did black burrow! didnt put it in the actual XML cuz i did it at the end of my lunch break, so i was late back to work :P
anywho, the first zip is the 3 DDS's the other fiile is the adobe raw file with 4 layers, the BG and one layer for each level of the zone. |
Quib, I have an idea...
Have you tried to replace the antonica map yet? Maybe we could get it to pull from the HD if we actually put a placeholder in there for it. If it does work, it'd be cool to have a 4 section map, 1 map for each quadrant, that way we can get a lot of detail. The default could be the 4 section, so that it changes right as you walk into other parts, then, you could have a Whole Map button that displays the full map to get a relation to where your at on the big map, then hide that map and you could go back to the quadrant maps to walk around. what do you think? |
-EDIT-
Deprecated post. |
Came in late on this, but this is FREAKING brilliant guys/girls.
since i got like... oh 11 pages to go thru i was wondering if any of you have a map collection ? ie all the dds files in one zip or something? |
Quib submitted the latest user friendly build to the downloads section, as soon as it gets approved, youll be able to find it at http://www.eq2interface.com/download...&sb=lastupdate.

The locations cannot be claimed as anyone's, but if the map was made by an individual that does not want it released, it will be removed asap.

Oh should email fo0bar and get permission for his well done maps, apparently he is willing to give permission. |
No need, I have people standing around watching this that have it cleared. I'm just waiting to see the differences, then I'll edit based on that
|
Well to be honest. I'd much rather we used the in game maps anyways there is a more crisp look to them in my opinion.
