Just to make sure: Only enter proxy settings if you actually use a proxy. Port 80 would be a very unusual proxy port.

Request:

can you add a "launch new station launcher"

Kaldran 10-23-2007 04:10 PM

Once it goes live and replaces launchpad. Actually Station Launcher is designed for starting with Windows and sitting in background.

dragowulf 10-23-2007 04:55 PM

I don't think the launchpad will be replaced, I think the station launcher is the alternative

Yes, it will be replaced! You will be assimilated!

Kaldran 10-23-2007 05:10 PM

It will replace Launchpad once it leaves beta stage. Would be pretty stupid to maintain every single game patcher when you just have developed an all-in-one solution :P

I see a problem with the new launchpad, though. Right now I can run EQ2Map's updater, which will then start both the POIFinder updater and the EQ2 patcher/launcher. With the new launchpad, I don't think I'll be able to make it fire off anything but the game, so I'll have to turn off auto-start and run my updaters separately before starting the launchpad. That'll be slightly annoying.

dragowulf 10-23-2007 07:41 PM

well with landiin's eq2c that shouldn't be a problem. you will see it go live or beta soon.

eq2c? Haven't heard of it. Is it something that works similar to how a Unix script would, letting us define which things to start in what order and which to wait or not wait on, with the EQ2 client being at the end?

dragowulf 10-24-2007 12:58 AM

Everquest 2 Companion
http://www.eq2interface.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=9030

It manages your UI's through EQ2interface, you pick and choose which interface pieces you want automatically updated through your favorites. It also runs EQ2 automatically (if you choose to), and you can run any external .exe's, how many you choose, including poifinder, profitui updater, etc. (it has its own eq2map updater built in so the current one would be useless)

It's in closed beta but hopefully it will be released to the public being either live or open beta.

Hmm, I don't really understand the problems you are describing. Current Launchpad is not able to fire off anything but the game too, is it? As said, Station Launcher is designed for sitting in background all the time, but it also can be started just in time when you want to run your game. You can create shortcuts to start any specific SOE game. Since it still has the autostart feature I think it will patch first and then run that game .. not tried yet though.

I don't see the issue in any case, just make a batch script

start /w eq2map.exe
"ProfitUI Reborn Downloader.exe"
EQ2.exe

and be done with it.

Kaldran 10-24-2007 04:11 AM

Or try using just "ProfitUI Reborn Downloader.exe" in the batch file. Since it is some kind of console program it should wait for the downloader to close even without using start /w

It was example of strange (to me) behaviour.
When I enter proxy, program quits without saying hello at least.
When I start it again, proxy fields are empty.

I thought it
1) should say cannoct conect and ask for proxy again
2) save proxy values

BTW Im not using proxy at all. I just tried to experiment and analyse, why I get "cant connect" error.

maddy70 11-06-2007 04:11 AM

updater trouble

Where do i find the proxy address?

Still the same behaviour. Is it somewhat helpfull, or I should stick with manual update?

(PS: No proxy, FW or whatever used, the link http://...:443 works from every possible browser I have)

Did you try adding the address to your hosts file manually as described in the FAQ?

The updater is relying on Java to resolve the DNS and for some reason that fails on some systems.

if that does not work, all that remains are firewall/router issues or reinstalling windows. :D
