Gonna sound Stupid!!
 

This is gonna sound stupid, but bear with me. :rolleyes: I love the UI Profit, almost everything about it. The only things I have added is mahroni's quick change shutdown, and Valdacil's Tradeskill mod. That being said, I went to add the lines of code for Valdicil's Tradeskill window, that it required, but to my suprise there was no eq2ui_mainhud.xml!!! :eek:

Am I missing something??? I look at the eq2ui.xml in the folder and it has a line to include the eq2ui_mainhud, but I can't seem to find it. Did I do something???

If you can, please help, I hate looking dumb, although apparently I'm getting really good at it. :D

I believe Profit does NOT include a eq2ui_mainhud.xml file with his mods. Couple reasons for that...

1) Doesn't have any windows other than "SoE's windows"
2) Doesn't want to have to deal with that file when updates occur

If you want to add a window to the MainHUD file, then go ahead and copy it from your default folder. All the windows should still work, as it doesn't affect code, it only affects what windows are shown.

The updated files for 1.8d are now working perfectly, no error messages and the icons can now be resized. Thanks for the quick fix Profit!

not sure what's going wrong, tried the update and the full 1.8d versions of the .zip files and I get the same thing each time.

the popup box which should have a slider in it to change the icon size just shows up as a black box ... gone back to using the old eq2ui_mainhud_hotkey.xml file and it works fine apart from the red messages when I first login :)

only other problem is my setting for which is my default chat window doesn't stay set next time I login .. probably another SOE bug errr .. "feature" :D

Hi.. I am also having a problem with my exp meter similar to the above #1. First, the numbers do not appear as "Dotted". Looks more like solid numbers but here's my problem:

I can see the first 2 number (The big ones) fine except the far left side of the first number is cut off but still readable. The next number to the right (Smaller and up a bit) is cut off and not readable.

I took your advice Profit and turned off Font Smoothing and Small Fonts (Small sans Sarif font) under the Options/User Interface section.

This did not help. This is a fresh install and have never had it installed before.
I love this UI!! Excellent work !!. I run at 1280x1024 resolution.

Also how do i get my Experience debt to show up? Can't see it anywhere (But maybe i'm blind =))

2. the window for the "klick-items"

Hi, I have a new problem. When ever I move windows around or create a second chat window, I am unable to enter any commands like /tell or /ooc at all in either chat window. If I hit the ENTER key nothing happens like If I type /AFK, I turn a bit to the left (I think) and my spell book appears..

Any thoughts please?

Your chat window doesn't have the chat line enabled. Right click on the window then go to Window Properties, and then set the Frame to "Frame and Titlebar." This should fix your problem.

I am pretty sure I tried changing all those options to no avail. I will try again when I get home..

The reason I say this, though, is because when you press A, that will make your character look to the left, and K will open your knowledge window. So...that makes sense.

However, if you've tried that all and it still doesn't work, but you can SEE the chat line, then something weird is going on and you'll have to give us more information.

So, try that when you get home. :)

Yea I never see the chat line. The cursor never starts blinking in the chat line.. basically I see no change when I hit ENTER..

I will mess with the chat window options again incase I missed it..

Ok that fixed it.... ty so much :-) Now if I can just get that exp meter looking right lol..

Also, I just noticed that when I first log in I get some red text in the chat window that says:

"The Main Hud Hotkey_Clone_1 window is not compatable with the current client. Please upgrade or revert to the default UI.

There is a seperate exact line for the clone_1, 3, 5 and 7 windows. The UI seems to be working ok but haven't really played it awhole lot..

Anyway if someone can help figure out why my exp meter isn't appearing like it should I would really appreciate it and how to get my Exp Debt to display..

Regarding the experience meter issue, you probably didn't install the fonts correctly (or at all). Either keep the directory in tact when you copy over the files to your new UI folder, or install it directly into windows. To do so, go to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\ and then go to File>Install Font... then follow the instructions, and provide the directory where the fonts are located to install them.

Now, about the hotkey issue, with the latest patch (or might have been LU16), there are now "file versions." My guess is Profit hasn't updated his hotkeys to reflect the changes of LU17, so if you delete them or download someone elses new ones, it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

After some playing around with other UIs, I have once again reverted to Profit's kick-butt UI. The beautiful graphics and functionality make this one a definite favorite among the crowd.

Anyway, I run in 1280x1024, and if people like me have trouble setting up UIs, then they might want to use a custom INI file. So, today I was messing around and came up with this setup. (See attached picture)

The way I set it up is...5 hotbars, 2 chat windows (with tabs), and bags across the top (all in letterbox). I modded my bags to make them stay open when ESCAPE is pushed because I like them open all the time. Also, the hotbars are the modded ones by Depechenode (Download Here), and are set up at 32pixel size. Then the graphic parts that are easier to see through are all outside th letterbox, but transparent and out of the way enough to not be annoying. I think I have a touch of OCD so I like to make everything perfect. I also use Jaxel's start button mod, so that's where your EQ2 start button will be - in the upper right corner.

If you guys want it, I have attached the INI file. Just change the name and server and you're good to go! You may have to move some windows around due to the fact that I add some of my own mods to the files Profit provides us with.

Hi.. I didn't install any fonts and not quite following you with your font install instructions.. Can u maybe give me some step by step instrucions being as specific as possible.. I'm kinda a noob at this stuff.

Am I supposed to install the fonts from the c:windows\fonts folder to the ui\profit18 folder?

Ok just took a look at this...

When you download the latest version from this site, it will have a folder called UI in it. Inside that folder, there is a folder called Profit18 and fonts. If you copy the ENTIRE fonts folder and put it in your Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI folder, it should work.

I have attached an image that should show you how your directories should look. Have a glance at that and tell me if that helps you.

Or you could just copy both of the font files into "c:\windows\fonts" (edit for wherever your windows is installed) ... you'll see a progress bar flash up for a few seconds as the fonts are installed into windows and that should be it. Worked for me and it's quick and easy :D

Ok well the UI I downloaded and installed has no folders in it.. just files.. I downloaded the "d" version and it also has no other directories.. just files..

Where do I get the fonts to copy into the c:\program files\Sony\EverquestII\fonts folder?. Not sure if I even have a fonts folder under the eq2\ui directory.. I'm at work atm.. will check when I get home.

Maybe I downloaded an older version.. can you maybe link the correct .zip and I can try that.. I currently have the UI setup the way I like it most.. If you do link and i have to install a newer version, what file do I keep in my current install that will maintain the current window locations so I won't have to redo the whole thing all over?

Again, I really appreciate your help. I'm learning as I go.. :-)

Also, I got the exp debt straight.. so i'm gtg on that..

hmmm you make it sound like I need to install fonts (Where do I get them?) into the c:\windows\fonts folder when all along I though I needed to first figure out what fonts to copy and then to copy them to a fonts folder under the eq2 ui folder.

Kinda confused... but I am sure with all the help I am getting, I will get this straight eventually..

For my UI to work, all you need to do is unzip the entire file into your everqyest ii folder. This way all the required files will be in the correct place.

Sounds to me you took the update only version.

Ok then yea i didnt install it correctly.. I just made a "Profit18" folder under the ui folder and copied from the .zip into it then just copied the eq2.ini into the EQ2 folder and edited the <Servername_Charname_> file for me.

I will try it again the right way.. also, in order to keep the current window positions, what file can I save to make sure I dont have to go through all that again.. Is there a file that saves your current windows setting so I can just copy that back into the EQ2 directory after I re-install the UI?

As the setup of my UI is quite complex and pixel perfect I would just stick to using my settings file.

But, the file you mentioned above is the file you are refering to.

Biggest problem most people new to Profit UI have is they do these steps....

1. Make folder in C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\UI\ and lable it Profit18
2. move the Profit18.zip to that location and unzip it
3. move the uisettings.ini to the main everquest II folder and rename it
4. move the eq2.ini to the main eq ii folder

only downside is now you have a Eq2.ini which is pointing to a UI which isn't there due to there is a extra set of folders....

when you upzip the .zip it puts a folder in your current folder called Profit18d then inside that folder is the uisettings and eq2.ini and another folder labled Profit18

the game uses the eq2.ini to look for a file in the ui directory called "eq2ui.xml"

so there directory looks like "C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\UI\Profit18\Profit18d\Profit18\eq2ui.xml"

when it should read "C:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest II\UI\Profit18\eq2ui.xml"

Actually I did use yours as recommended.. I just move thigns around a bit. I will just copy that file back in the directory after I re-install it..

Where is 1.8D?
 

When I try to download, the only files I see on the download page is 1.8b and 1.5e. I am sure I am just over looking something, but could you help me out and point the dunderhead to the correct location of version 1.8d? :D

Ok let's start over...

This is the link to the version I have. If you download that, it should work the way I was explaining. That is V1.8c, so try that out.

After downloading that, you should be able to just follow the directions I gave (following the picture I provided as well) to correctly install the UI. Or as Profit said, just extract the folder into your MAIN EverQuest II folder.

If there is an upgrade 1.8d that Profit provided as an attachment here, I haven't used it, but I will look for it.

Ok just found it. I will have a look at those files, but it seems to me that you guys downloaded the update-only patch. Download the whole first attachment (ProfiUI1.8d) and try that. Without the core files, the UI won't run correctly.

Well I re-installed the "d" version and extracted it directly to the everquest folder having it "overwrite all" and it works perfectly now. I had saved my eq2.ini and the <Servername_charactername.ini> file and recopied them after the upgrade and my settings were the same as before the upgrade. Exp meter is dotted now and I can see all of it :-)

Also, I no longer get that red text saying some files were not compatable.

Patch breaks chat window
 

Hey profit, donno if you knowticed it but ever since monday's patch for some reasion the chat windows no longer have a (frame and titlebar) option... also the close buttion is missing... i havn't messed with that file and i been running 1.8d since release i will try replaceing the chat window with a fresh one from the .zip when i get home (currently in class) see if that makes a difference (just thought i let ya know of a weird bug i found)

Worked out what the problem was, thought I'd better get it sorted incase it caused more trouble later. After a bit of testing I proved it was Mook's Chat while Zoning mod .. once I removed that I could see the font resize window fine. :nana: :nana: :nana:

When I right click on the window there is no option to "Close Window" nor is there a "X" at the top right corner to close it. The only options I have in the Window settings are "Frame only" and "None". Neither setting give me the option to close a new chat window..

Any suggestions please?

Well I got my wife into the UI and she loves it. Unfortunately while she was setting things up she made a few chat windows and now can't close them. She (And I) just assumed we could close them on the fly..

Also, There are situations when I will make a new chat windows but it is tempory so I then close them when I do not need them anymore.. The main reason I love this UI is the fact that there is soooo much viewing area. I normally only have two chat windows up and the others are temporary because If I leave them up, thats less viewing area I have and I absolutely hate using tabs..

It would be great if you can upload a file that we can copy into the Profit18 dir that will atleast allow us to close the window by right clicking on it and having the "Close Window" option there.. or the "X" at the top right corner..

Whatever you prefer..
