Hi again

I'm really loving this, thanks for the work. It's a little labor-intensive to set up a lot of characters separately, but I think that it's definitely worthwhile, being that I'll be able to tweak on-the-fly. And I can camp to all my toons from the menu and they can have all their own settings, yay!

Two things, though:

First, I can't seem to reset a zone timer. Alt+z, highlight and click reset, but I don't get the normal popup to confirm. It just kinda does nothing.

Second, when I try to run the updater, I get an error "003 Exception: could not retrieve a list of updates. Are you trying to update an outdated version of this application?" In the options, I'm pointing at the correct folder.

The only thing out of the ordinary that I'm doing is using a different target, implied target, and bag. These may be user error, but any suggestions?

Edited to add: Also, is there any way to get the preset spells in the target tag window to stay the same for every toon, without having to go in and set them individually?

First I want to say that the EQ2 UI DarUI_Live is awesome!

I have a few issues with some of the UI windows showing as they should based on your screenshots and I am unable to remove the Prestige Stack window. I believe this is all due to the fact that the update utility doesn't work for me. I keep getting a message that it is unable to connect to the server. The windows I am having issues with are all the ones that need to be updated. The utility shows me the file versions but does not actually download them and when I try to update I get the following error.

"001 Could Not Connect To The Update Server. Please Try Again In A Few Minutes"

I have been trying for several hours to download them. Can you assist me with this matter? My specs in case needed: Windows 8 Pro w Media Player, i7-3770 3.4 processor, 16 GB DDR3 1600 RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 Ti 2 GB video card.

Cearra, I haven't had any issues with the zone timer confirmation popup, nor have any testers reported it although I'll see if I can duplicate the problem. As an experiment, can I get you to restart the game and try resetting a zone timer as the very first thing you do after logging in, without opening any other windows besides Alt+Z.

The 003 exception sounds like a computer that does not have .NET version 3.5 loaded, but the Live updater uses the same update routines as the DarqUI window utility. Have you ever gotten a successful file list with the Live updater?

Yes you can quickly duplicate the Spell Monitor presets. Use Notepad to copy and paste from the darqui_targettag.xml file in your POI subfolder. Copy and paste the customized block of data, then change the name to one of your other characters -- there is nothing special about the .xml files that would prevent this from working.

Hi RazzalDazzal, thank you for your post. The Prestige Monitor hijacks a rarely-used interface piece that likes to stay on the screen, so for characters that do not use Prestige spells here's how to hide it: Uncheck the "Listening" checkbox in the window manager which will get rid of the icon frames, then resize the empty window frame as small as it will go. You can then hide the frame and background of the window and scoot it over to the edge of the screen or behind one of the other windows until that character begins using Prestige spells. If you don't want the Prestige Monitor on any of your characters, you can delete the eq2ui_betamark.xml file from your custom UI folder.

I'm seeing a number of successful connects on the live update server over the past 24 hours, so it may be that your firewall is set too tight for the application. The 001 error happens when the updater can't ping the update server, so as an experiment try suspending your firewall just long enough to get updates. I will be publishing an updated zip file on this page with the newer versions at some point, but I would prefer to see your updater get properly connected to the server.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

The zone reset worked after doing it first thing upon logging in. I'm not sure what that means, but at least it worked!

I'm running .NET framework 4. Do I need an older version, or should 4 work fine? I can use the DarqUI updater (original) and it works. I have not been able to get the live updater to work yet, though.

Thanks so much for the info about copying presets. That will help a lot!

And, again, this is a really slick UI. I'm very happy that I decided to switch from the original, though I love that one as well.

It was my firewall. The UI updated and I am using it fully now. Thanks for getting back to me. This is an awesome UI!!! TWO THUMBS UP!!

Awesome mod, however I seem to have the problem that it sometimes doesn't save my changes, randomly - and I am doing a full relaunch of the game every time, after clicking each and every save button in the in-game UI config that I encounter.
Has anybody else got that problem, or is it a known issue?

I think i have the same problem... :/

Have set up all spells for my character...all saved..all works...
then i log in another day....no spell icons....only the names...and nothing works... mußt go in the setting and set up/save all again :/

Maybe because the folder is read-only? But i cant change that....every time when i change it...its read-only again when i look next time oO

LittleMagica (and possibly Uyaem), Windows folders cannot be set to read-only, only the files inside the folder. If you go into the Properties page for the folder you are probably seeing a colored square rather than a checkbox or a blank. This is one of the more confusing parts of the Windows UI that I wish they would change. The colored square means the checkbox is in a state that is neither read-only nor read-write; if you check or uncheck then it will apply that choice to all of the files at once but it will continue to be the colored square. Randomly check the Properties page on several of the individual files and you will see they are indeed read-write.

It is possible that you have more than one POI folder, especially if you have recently installed, uninstalled or changed the location of EQ2MAP, which creates a local POI folder. If that's the case, your DarqUI Live configuration files need to be moved from the Default POI to the one inside the DarqUI_Live+EQ2MAP folder. For example, if you log in after installing EQ2MAP and make changes to a DarqUI Live setting, it will create a new configuration file in the new POI folder. The interface is not smart enough to look in multiple places for the correct POI folder, so it uses only the closest copy it can find.

Make sure you only have one instance of the darqui_xxxx.xml configuration files across the entire \UI folder, and please post back here if this does not seem to be the problem.

Okay... think the ui saves the changes now...
Must tick start as admin on everquest...

but now i have another problem...i cant click to cure in the group window :/
have set up my cure spell for all dots and curse cure for curse...but nothing happens when i click on it...

in the raidwindow it works...

Try turning off Cure Check on the Settings tab, I'll take another look at the Cure Check logic as soon as I can.

The stats button >> of the character window (pressing c in-game) does not let you click the plus sign any longer and the stats that show when you click the >> button are all zeros.

The stats sidebar on the Character window shows character, mercenary or warder stats depending on which tab you are on. Make sure you are on the right tab for the stats you are trying to view. For example, if you are on the Mercenary tab but you don't have a mercenary up, the stats sidebar won't let you click the + symbols.
