Game Update #65 Compatible
Description:
This modification slims down the Tradeskill window and adds several useful features. It is vertically much smaller, with a lot of dead space removed. The recipe list rows are 3/4 the original size, the components page is slightly re-arranged and reduced in size, and the creation page contains one progress bar with the character's power beneath it. The window comes with a slim border and will display Rush Order's time remaining within the window. - The ENTER key will active the Create, Repeat, Begin, and Ok buttons on all the important screens.
- The ESC key will return to the recipe list but WILL NOT stop recipe making. I find this to be too dangerous to do accidentally.
** Tradeskill event buttons now focus properly in dual pane view! Props to Brushfire for the discovery.
Check the Update Log for the latest changes.
Installation Notes:
- How To: Install A Custom UI
- eq2ui_tradeskills.xml goes in your CustomUI folder.
Update Log:
2012.12.10
- Sizing bug fix.
2012.12.03
- Updated for CoE changes.
2011.02.25
- Window updated to reflect changes to default recipe loading (Velious update).
2011.01.25
- window should be fixed to show the Prepare page when not using the Repeat button.
- "Create" button should now properly display when canceling back from the Prepare page.
2010.08.23
- Hitting the "Clear" button will also set your cursor to the input field.
- Window now successfully focuses the reaction buttons for keyboard usage on creation start!
- Small fix for the window's Create button not reappearing after crafting an item.
2010.08.19
- now properly displays 6 buttons (update caused only 5 to show during crafting)
- window will now bypass the "Prepare" page ONLY when hitting the repeat button. This is the cleanest method to allow comissioned crafting to work and allow repeating to be more fluid.
2010.08.18
- by user request, the highlight color on the recipe list has been brightened up
- the Prepare step of crafting is no longer automatically skipped. Until SOE takes another look at the tradeskill window, normal and comissioned crafting have too a high of a chance of bugging users out. Hopefully this change helps stop any more problems.
2010.02.25
- Writ timer default text no longer always visible
- Actual writ timer text is broken until fixed by SOE (won't require an update for this mod when it's fixed, hopefully)
2009.04.25
- Updated with new code.
- "Recipes" checkbox now keeps the window in side-by-side mode
- Clicking the "clear" button with also refresh the recipe list
- Only the one durability/progress bar now exists at the top
- The player's power now displays on the creation page
- The "components" window is now skipped if all items are found (this includes hitting the repeat button)
- When the recipe list is always shown, the "create" button will disappear when crafting so that you can't accidentally bug the window
- Still no known way to set focus to event buttons with recipe list always shown
2008.10.07
- updated for GU#49 (checkbox for supply depot)
2008.09.12
- Now includes toggle for Recipes to remain visible while crafting
2008.07.12
- Re-coded from scratch, updated to the latest GU
2005.03.22
- Initial release

After using this mod for a bit now I was wondering if there is a way to make it so that when you are done crafting an item and then hit Repeat if you could get it to stay in a side by side view like it is when you are crafting? And even when you hit N and then pick a recipe, have it side by side here as well, click a recipe show what ingredients it requires like it does when you start to hit the Begin button. If this make sense. This way no matter what you are doing when you are crafting you will always have that side by side view. This way it would all look the same, just an idea.... not sure if it can even be done.

Yeah, I was thinking of making the checkbox just keep the window the same width all the time, as if you close the window wit the process part still open, the next time you open the window (usually next session) it will be wider than it should.
I REALLY wanna see if it's possible to make the Hotkeys always gain focus when you hit "Create" because it's just annoying that it doesn't.
And last, this window kinda just needs an overhaul. I don't even use the checkbox because it annoys me too much that I have to click the buttons the first time. It's definitely a work in progress...

I love the tradeskill window with recipes available...
How do you get the side-by-side view? I have to switch back and forth. Also...I don't think we need the choose buttons (imo they clutter up the screen), but if you feel we do, could you make them an option? I've never once used them.
I also find the two progress/durability bars a bit confusing. How about power and crafting progress toward next level
have no idea what I was doing wrong/right, but the side by side view came back...go figure

This Tradeskill is the best ever...a few suggestions for making it even better
1. When you repeat a recipe (using the enter key) return the focus to the reaction arts buttons. Try to keep/return the focus to these buttons whenever possible. This is my #1 request.
2. Instead of two progress bars, put in a power/health bar.
3. Open the dual window when first starting tradeskilling or at least keep the dual window open during the session.
4. Eliminate the substitution boxes...does anyone ever substitute materials?
Once in a while, through a combination of the wrong keys or something (can't reliably duplicate this) I end up on the single recipe page in the middle of a craft combine with no way to get back to the page with the reaction arts. The crafting continues, but there's no way that I could find to activate (or even see) the reactions needed or the reaction arts to counter them. If the window accidentally closes to the recipe page, there needs to be a button to open the crafting page (the recipes check box doesn't do it).
I LOVE this interface...expecially the ability to see and select a recipe in advance of needing it for tradeskills.

Figured out what happens when window gets stuck
Hi, Drumstix...
I figured out what and why the getting stuck with no way to get back from the recipe window to the (continuing to craft) crafting window.
Start crafting a recipe...in this case a tailoring recipe. After you've been crafting this recipe for a bit, hit the "create" button on the recipe side, or hit the enter key. This forces the "repeat" icon on the crafting window, which means you now cannot stop the current recipe. If you then hit the repeat icon, it forces the tradeskill window to close, but the recipe continues. The crafting window sort of overlays the recipe window in part, but the reaction arts are not visible. You cannot stop the ongoing recipe with escape and "x" in the upper right is not active. I agree that hitting "enter" when the recipe is active should not stop the recipe. It's too easy to hit enter accidentally and stop an almost finished recipe. However, I think that both the "create" button and the "enter" key should be inactive during the recipe creation. That should solve this problem
The only way to stop it is to run far away from the crafting station, which isn't such a good idea if you're doing a timed writ.
I discovered this when I realized that the recipe I was doing for a timed writ was incorrect and accidentally hit the "create" button for the correct recipe instead of the "stop" button.

Alright, thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can get this all sorted out in a few days. Got the easy mods out of the way

Drums, any chance you're going to modify this anytime soon? Even if all you dd was to retain focus when you hit enter, enter to repeat a recipe would be wonderful

I'll be modifying this for GU51. I have my account activated again thankfully since I've been getting work again

Good news. I have a couple more suggestions.
1. Eliminate the second progress/durability bar and add a power bar
2. Make the clear button clear AND refresh the list in one click
3. Make it so the second panel stays open all the time (optional using window settings?)
4. Eliminate the panel where you can swap materials. Or at the very least make it optional. I don't think anyone actually does that anymore, now that there's no actual combines.
5. See if you can make the focus revert to the buttons when you type Enter Enter to repeat a recipe. I think any other focus issues are not going to b doable.
take a look at this ui to see what I mean
http://www.eq2interface.com/downloads/full6077.jpg this is from Brushfire and its just what I want but there's no second pane.
I'm guessing that the focus problem is going to be difficult as I don't see it fixed in anyone's mod.
I hope these suggestions are useful
