The User Interface Modification provides EverQuest
II players the ability to keep a large quantity of
reference notes within the EQ2 client, preventing
the need to alt-Tab. See the following sites for
some good info:

How to Install and Use EQ2_MainHUD_Notes
****************************************************
Experts see steps 4-10.

1. Download the interface.

2. Open the Notepad accessory.
 * Type:

cl_ui_subdir UI/
cl_ui_skinname custom

 * Choose [File: Save As]
 * Navigate to your main EverQuest II directory.
 * In 'File Name' type: eq2.ini including quotes.
 * Click 'Save.'

3. Inside the UI directory, which is inside your
   EverQuest II directory, create a new subdirectory
   with the name "custom".
   Example: %\Everquest II\UI\custom\

4. Unzip the User Interface Mod .zip file into a
   temporary folder.

5. Move the "eq2ui_mainhud.xml" file to the
   "%\Everquest II\UI\custom\" subdirectory. *

6. Open the NotesAssembler folder. You will see many
   files but only the ones beginning with an under-
   score (_) are important. Do not rename any of the
   files.

7. The files _note1.txt through _note10.txt contain
   the body of the notes, so edit these and fill in
   information like harvesting information, quest
   guides, heroic opportunity tables and the like.
   These notes should not exceed 32kb in size.

8. The files _note1.txt through _note10.txt contain
   the titles of the various tabs used to navigate
   between the notes, so edit these. Keep 'em short
   and no line breaks of course.

9. Run the "_makenote.bat" DOS batch file.

10.Move the resulting "eq2ui_mainhud_notes.xml" file
   to the "%\Everquest II\UI\custom\" subdirectory.

11.Load up Everquest II and your new interface
   should be working. :-)
