COLLECTION QUESTS (1): FEATHERS, SHELLS, BONES AND SHARDS

==================================================

The little glowing "?" nodes scattered all over Norrath hold items that can be collected.

When you start your character on the Queen's Colony or the Outpost of the Overlord, there are two collection quests available. One is a feather collection, and the other is a shell collection. On each island, there is an NPC who will accept the collections and reward you for them once they're completed.

When you leave your island and start exploring Norrath, you will find "?" nodes in most non-town zones. The items you find will be different from the feathers and shells you collected on the island, and will allow you to assemble literally dozens of different collections. The NPCs who reward you for completing these collections are located in North Qeynos and East Freeport.

To harvest a "?" node, simply place the cursor over it and double click. Look in your inventory and find the item, and right click (examine) it to see which quest or quests it might start or continue. If you decide to add the item to a collection, it will disappear from your inventory. If you choose not to add it to a collection, or simply don't need it, you can sell it to an NPC merchant (for very little cash) or put it up for sale on the market.

Some items are unique to certain zones or tiers while others can be found widely distributed. Some are hard to obtain, while some are quite common. The rule of thumb is, the higher tier the zone, the higher quality the collectables. For example, you can expect to find shattered bones in Oakmyst Forest and unscathed bones in Zek.

All collection quests yield experience. The more challenging the collection, the better the experience. Many also provide cash or items.

BONE AND SHARD COLLECTIONS

Bones and shards can be added both to type and to class or race collections, where other collected items can only be added to one collection each. For instance, a plain blue butterfly can only be added to the plain butterfly collection, but a shattered shard of channeling can be added either to the shattered shard collection or to the channeling shard collection.

Bone race collections and shard class collections will yield more experience than bone or shard type collections.

This item, when equipped, will enable your character to take on the appearance of a high elf. The illusion will last for as long as you remain in the zone in which the eye was used. When you use a petrified eye, a bone fragment belonging to that specific race will be consumed from your inventory or bank. If you do not have a corresponding bone fragment when you try and use a petrified eye, it will not function. Note that petrified eye illusions will not fool guards of the opposing city. They can see your allegiance.)
