Socials Window (Emotes and Macros)

The default Socials window is a valuable source of custom macro commands, but the large form factor makes it less desirable to use routinely. The DarqUI Socials window can be configured to make more economical use of screen space, allowing you to use your custom macros directly from the window rather than using up hotbar slots.

Emote and Macro categories are toggled and paged using controls on the window frame. The window can be resized to flow macro tiles similar to the behavior of a hotbar, with or without text. You can make the window behave more like a hotbar by hiding the title bar and using alternate paging controls built into the macro tile area.

Settings

The DarqUI Socials window will use your existing macro pages. The window remembers its open/closed state, size and screen position between logins. Use the DarqUI Utility or the Window Manager to fine-tune the display and behavior of the window.

Initial viewand Starting Macro pageYou can choose which Socials category to display on login as well as which Macro page should appear first. Emotes will always display Page 1 on login.

"Click to edit" frames for empty macrosChoose whether to display clickable frames for empty macros. Clicking the frame will raise the Edit Macro window for the selected slot. Editing an empty macro slot would otherwise be unavailable in icon-only mode.

Show paging controls as icon tilesIf you prefer to hide the titlebar, you can still control paging with alternate controls in the tile area. Note that when the titlebar is hidden, a DarqUI Settings button will be available in the upper right-hand corner.

Save window size when showing textIf you normally keep text hidden, there may be times when you want to display text temporarily. If this setting is checked, the window will resize to show all tiles in the default arrangement, then return to the previous icon-only layout when you hide text again. If you always show text or always hide text, this setting will be of little use.

If you are using the Socials window as a supplement to your hotbars, the following settings will cause it to behave more like a hotbar:

Allow closing window with [Esc]By default, Socials will close when you press [Esc]. Uncheck this setting to keep it on screen.

Allow dragging iconsUncheck this setting to prevent the default drag-and-drop behavior of Macro and Emote icons.

Editing macros

Raise the macro editor for an empty macro slot by clicking the tile text (when visible) or by clicking the empty icon frame. For a macro slot that has already been configured, right-click the icon. Emotes are not editable.

When choosing an icon, you are not limited to the stock icons shown in the editor. Any icon that can be dragged-and-dropped can be dropped onto the sample in the editor. Some icon sources are:

* Note that you can use the DarqUI utility to create a custom hotkey with any icon from the various libraries, and then drag/drop that hotkey icon onto the Edit Macro sample.
