Quick Setup
Use this page to automatically configure new customizations for your characters, or to update the settings for specific characters quickly. When you click Set up, the utility will configure characters with suggested settings that take into account their classes, adventure levels and servers.
Not all DarqUI windows are affected during Quick Setup. Group and Raid windows are configured with spell icon suggestions, but your window settings (Cure Check, audible detriments, etc.) are not changed. The Shutdown (Camp) window is reconfigured with your character and server names, and Experience bars for all of your characters are reset to display pages appropriate to their class and level. All other settings remain as you left them or if this is your first use of Quick Setup, DarqUI defaults are used in all other cases.
After Quick Setup is finished, you can use the utility to adjust the settings to your liking. You will get better results if you use the utility or the in-game window manager to tweak individual settings over time after the initial setup.
Character list
The table showing your characters is generated each time you open the utility. Character specifications come from special files with the CDC file extension found in the logincache folder of your game installation. If you have characters on US and international servers, they may be in separate folders called logincache, logincache-us, etc. Each character has a separate CDC file.
In order for a character's CDC file to appear in the logincache folder, and therefore in the Quick Setup character list, you must have logged in to the Character Select screen with the character's account at least once. Each time you log in to Character Select, the CDC files for those characters are refreshed from the Daybreak servers. If you have recently reinstalled the game, or the logincache folder has been cleared for some other reason, or if one of your characters looks wrong, log in to Character Select and then reopen the utility.
Adjusting the list
Hiding charactersIf you see characters that you don't want to use, you can remove them from the list by right-clicking and choosing Hide. Hidden characters are not deleted, but they will no longer appear in the configuration pages of the utility and they will be ignored by Quick Setup. Any configurations made before a character was hidden will still be loaded when the character is played.
To unhide a character, click the Show hidden characters link below the list, then right-click and Unhide the desired characters. Click the link again to resume hiding hidden characters.
Locking charactersIf you don't want Quick Setup to disturb the settings for a certain character, you can Lock that character. Locking only applies to the Quick Setup feature -- you can still make manual changes on the component pages for locked characters. When Quick Setup is run, locked characters are bypassed.
To lock or unlock all characters at once, right-click on any cell and choose from the context menu. To lock or unlock a specific character, either right-click the character and choose from the context menu or click the character's Lock cell.
Spell suggestions
An important part of Quick Setup is configuring Raid and Group spell icons for your characters. Each character will have up to five reference-cast spell icons available in each of the two windows. Spell suggestions take into account the character's class and level. If you play on a Euro server, you can choose to set up spells with their German or French names. Choose the desired suggestion file on the Updates page of the utility.
Using different spells in Group and Raid windowsEven though Quick Setup configures characters with the same spell icons in both Group and Raid windows, the two spell sets are independent. If you have reference-cast spells that are better suited to the Raid window, you can set them up manually for the Raid window, with a different set of group-oriented spells in the Group window.
You can set up spells in a variety of ways using the link below the character list.
Simple spell names (Auto-level)For most players, this is the recommended choice. Reference-cast spells will use the base spell name with no level identifiers (IV, V, VI, etc.) Spells cast with their base names will use the highest level spell available to the character. As the character levels up and receives higher level versions of the spells, you will not need to reconfigure the spell icons.
Full spell namesChoose this if you want to use spells of a specific level. Quick Setup will choose the highest level spell usable by the character. You can always go back later and manually choose a different spell level from the Group or Raid window setup pages.
Full spell names and Spell IDsThis is a good choice for international players. There are many spells containing umlaute (ä ü ö etc.) that the Group and Raid windows have trouble recognizing. Setting up your characters with Spell ID numbers ensures that all spells are cast using their Spell ID numbers.
Auto-detect umlaute (international)This choice is recommended for international players. Spells that do not contain umlaute are set to Auto-level, while spells containing umlaute use full spell names and Spell ID to ensure they are cast properly. This is the most flexible option for non-EN servers.
Advanced: If you play both on English and on Euro servers, you can set up spells for characters on one language, lock those characters, and then set up the other characters in the other language. Download the spell file in the desired language as needed from the Updates page of the utility. When you load the game, the spell icon tooltips will appear in the language in which they were set up.
