Chat window
The DarqUI Chat window can have top or bottom oriented tabs, and you can download a large version that has an oversize text input area. Make your choices from the Updates tab of the utility. You can choose reduced tab font sizes, which will reduce the overall size of the tabs. If your chat window has many tabs, this allows you to see more tabs without the scroll buttons appearing.
Chat input boxBy default, each instance of the Chat window has an input box for typing text and commands. But you can choose to remove the input box from a specific chat window to reclaim some screen space. To remove the input box, choose Frame and Titlebar from the Window Settings menu. The DarqUI Chat window template does not have a titlebar, so the Frame and Titlebar setting is simply used to show or hide the input box on a window-by-window basis.
ImportantIn order to chat, you must leave an input box visible on at least one chat window instance. To chat automatically when you begin typing, right-click on a chat window that contains an input box and choose Always Chat Here.
You can display chat log times and chat categories using the Window Manager (the blue DarqUI Settings gem is located in the upper right-hand corner of each chat window instance.) Showing or hiding these chat features will change internal game settings that persist between sessions.
Using the profile editor
With the DarqUI Unified Utility you can view and edit your character's voice and text chat channel assignments. You can also rearrange and copy chat windows, tab and channel layouts between your characters. If you have chat windows that are causing problems, you can remove them.
ImportantThe profile editor makes changes directly to the UI Settings file for your character. This file is frequently updated while your character is logged in, which will usually overwrite any changes you make with the utility before you can reload the new settings. So for best results you should log your character out, at least to the Character Select screen, while making changes with the utility.
The profile editor shows a scaled-down view of your game window in full-screen mode. You can view and make some types of changes to your chat windows:
MoveDrag the chat windows as a group to a different screen location without changing their alignment to each other. To move an individual window out of the group, hold down [Shift] while dragging. To see how your chat windows coexist with your hotbars and containers, mouse over the ¤ icon in the upper right.
CopyInstead of using the load_uisettings command to copy another character's entire UI layout, you can use the utility to copy or "clone" only the chat window settings without disturbing anything else. Choose another character from the dropdown to preview the layout. Click Replace to accept the new configuration. Click Õ to cancel and redisplay your own profile.
Chat channels When you copy another character's chat windows, you have the option of also copying their text chat channels. (Voice channels are not copied.) Unless you check the Do not copy chat channels checkbox, copying will also add the other (donor) character's chat channels to your list. The donor's channel numbers will be used where possible; the receiving character will keep existing numbers for channels that are not shared with the donor unless they cause an indexing conflict.
Chat channel grid Before saving the changes, look over the list of chat channels and channel number assignments, and make any needed changes. You can add, delete, reorder, renumber and rename the channels.
UnhideIf you have a chat window that has disappeared, you can use the utility to show it. Log out of your character, click the hidden window in the screen view and then click Save (or Autosave).
RemoveWhen you drag a chat window onto another on the game screen, the original dragged window is simply hidden and a new tab is created in the destination window. Sometimes even though you moved a chat window to a tab, the original window will persistently reappear each time you log in. This may be because the original window is still associated with some chat categories.
If you have a "ghost" chat window that keeps reappearing, you can use the utility to remove it permanently. Log out of your character, double-click the ghost window in the screen view and then click Save (or Autosave).
UndoWhile you are on this page you can always click Cancel at the top of the utility to revert the changes to chat windows and channels. Click Save or Autosave to commit changes immediately.
