Great mod, once you've used it you cant live without it.

My problem is I cant submit POI's. I guess I have to click the button on the updater to submit a POI? If thats the case then I just get an error message posted below. If im doing something wrong then please let me know as I must have missed something.

Something very odd is happening for me - in Rivervale, if I cross from the entry-part of the map to the second part of the map (bascially to the drafling tower and the lamia's/nightbloods) and I do this via the top part of the map, it will keep displaying the entry part.

If however I move to the second part of the map on the bottom half of it, it will change...

Anyone else noticed this oddness?

I've tried deleting all the maps and PoI's and redownloading them, I've tried deleting the UI completely and reinstalling it, and this is still happening...

Greetings!

After LU#8 I can no longer use EQ2MAP, It halts on icons_blackburrow_2.xml at 86% every single time. I'm using the EQ2Map Auto Updater 0.97 Beta on a Windows XP computer. And as I said, had no problems whatsoever until today.

These are the things I've tried (not necessary in the order posted):
Deleted EQ2.ini
Reinstalled EQ2MAP
Deleted Custom UI folders
Deleted EQ2MAP folders in UI directory
Reinstalled Dot net 2.0
Removed my ini files containing window positioning etc
Changed entire EQ2 directory to not be write protected
Disabled firewall
Copied the file from a friend
Deleted the file
Made a new file with the same name

But it still halts on icons_blackburrow_2.xml with the following error:

The operation has timed-out.
File: icons_blackburrow_2.xml

Any suggestions would be great.

try downloading it again i regenerated the file.

you can submit pois from http://maps.eq2interface.com/submitpoi.php

Tried to use it once I got home from work, still halts at 86%. Arggh what a pain it is to play without the maps!

I'm out of ideas on what else to try. Spoke to my guildies and they have no problems whatsoever with updating. So I guess its a local problem that I have to figure out.

the maps are supposed to be at:

D:\Everquest II\UI\EQ2MAP (which is the dir I use)

And the EQ2.ini should look like:

cl_ui_skinname EQ2MAP
cl_ui_subdir UI/

Thats all that should affect the maper right? Nothing is write protected and I put everyone to full access to the EQ2 folder (not inheriting any access from higher directories)

edit:
Tried using the updater for the test server, and that also halts on 86%, and I've never ever connected to the test server nor have I installed any UI or anything at all to that folder that contains the test server files.

edit2:
Tried using /setupdatefolder and chose a empty folder to update into. But it still freeze at 86% on the icons_blackburrow_2.xml

Hi!

I have gone through every post on this thread and found similar problems to mine, but no solution that worked for me...

When I launch EQ2MAP updater (ver. 0.97 Beta) I get this:

Error Getting File List:
The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

I am behind a ISA2004 firewall. I have tried to follow the xml-link like some post mentioned and I get a new window with the XML-coding. If I choose "save target as", I can download the file.

I have updated to .NET framework latest beta. I have closed XP firewall.

Here comes the funny part:

In the interface there is a webpage that cannot be displayed, and when refreshing it still don't show up, so I followed the link to http://maps.eq2interface.com/updates.html in my browser and the page showed up as normal. Now when I refresh the page in the interface it showes up, but when I close the updater and restarts it same thing all over....

I have checked the logs in ISA and only get the WinSock 1745 that is not allowed, no change if I enables it. Nothing else seems to be blocked.

Where exactly is the updater going when you press the "Update"-button? i would like to check if I can get a manual connection there.

Any suggestions?

I am now using the manual map, but I would like the updates to work too.

Something very funny happened today...

I've been trying for a couple of weeks to get this working, and finally yesterday I took my time to post my problem on the forum.

Guess what? Today it just worked :P

I guess the program got scared when posting on the forum or something - well, thx for a nice mod,

now I will log into EQ and give it a try

When I run the autoupdater the window that opens is smaller than the data being displayed. Can you make the autoupdater window resizable? My screen resolution is 1920x1200.

it will be resizeable in the next version, the reason it doesnt fit is actually from having a nonstandard dpi, resolution doesnt matter.

I created a new character today in Freeport and noticed while he was on the Isle of Refuge not a single map point from EQ2map showed up. I can only assume all the map point's being submitted are going to the Qeynos Isle of Refuge only and not the Freeport one as well?

I didn't create a Qeynosian to check out their Isle of Refuge.

EDIT:
I created a Qeynos character and nothing showed up on that map either.

Hi....fantastic mod.

I am running the 0.97beta updater but cannot see my group members in the map window. If I happen to mouse over their location, I do see the tooltip with their name, but I cannot see the number icon.

I did see the previous post about this, but believe I am current. Is there a particular file I need to delete before updating again?

First I would like to say GREAT work guys, since I found this ALL My friends is using it..

Only have 1 problem with it, been allopver the troubbleshooting to find something about it but no luck, so I try it here instead..

Sometime the map show me Zones I'm not in, FX, I take the bird from Freeport Station (CL) to Nectulus Station (CL), the entire CL map is split up in two, and when I come to the place where it changes it works just fine, but if I remove the map and takes it up again, it will show me the side I just came from and not the one I'm in...

Been trying to figure this out myself, but the problem is that its only sometimes it does this, anyone else has this prob ??

I have the same problem as nycdan. I have the latest version but my group members do not show on any of the maps. Otherwise the program runs great and I haven't had any problems.

if you cant see the icons try deleting the file icon_map3.dds located in the eqDir\customUIdir\images\icons folder.
if you never had a custom ui before you ran the updater and hadnt set a eq2.ini up the location would be C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\EQ2MAP\images\icons

somthin weird happened. i installed the auto updater. everything works fine. the maps look great i clicked on a poi and i can't use my keyboard to move now. i can use my mouse and i can type and jump. anyone seen this. thanks in advance.

I installed EQ2Map Updater (Version 0.97 Beta), also the dotnetfx on my notebook and i get this error message:

Error Getting File List:
The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.

Any ideas? It works fine on my PC's, but not on the notebook.

ok, I see that someone earlier has said something about the problem
" The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

I dont know too much about computers.. but is there a way you could possibly tell me what i need to do to fix this problem?

I have downloaded the latest framework, and I thought everything went fine, until I tried to run the map program. I received this message:

you need the .net framework, at least version 1.1 get it from microsoft, there is a link on the download for the updater to get the framework

i can tell you its not the server, its a setting you have on your computer that is preventing the updater from getting the file list, which is an xml file from the maps.eq2interface.com website. as i dont know how your computer is set up i cant tell you what is causing the problem, only that it is some setting on your computer.
