Default begin2search spyware?

Whenever I run EQ2MAP-Updater-1.0.6-Setup.exe, Ad-Aware (definitions SE1R76 22.11.2005) reports that it finds begin2search, a data miner. Is the auto-update version really packaged with begin2search?

No, it's a false positive. The patcher scans files on your hard drive (the map plugin files) and then sends info (what files need updating) to a remote server. Some antivirus programs see this behavior as malicious. Better a false positive than letting a real virus go undetected, though.

You can add the patcher to the list of exceptions your anti virus software or adware software won't flag as bad.
