Custom Video Presets

Firstly, Great UI. I've been using it religiously for almost a year.

With the advanced start button, there are three buttons for custom preset's.

I've looked around a bit, but i cant seem to find it. I checked the readme in the thorui folder as well. But i dont see any useful info in there detailing how i go about it, short of manually programming the values in the .cfg.


How do i customise those settings?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm working on getting a more informative set of instructions in the "..." button info.

After following the instructions, then running the eq2ui_custompreset.exe, all i get is an error and it doesn't run, Any ideas on what i may be doing wrong or some info??

It may help to know what the error says in order to properly answer your question.

The application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Start the ThorUI Auto Updater "AU" and click cancel before it autolaunches.

Click Options>Advanced then click on the features tab.
(That's a full list of all available features.)

If you want more information on a feature simply click the "..." button next to each feature for full instructions and a screenshot.
Note: Some are out of date untill I get a chance to revise them...

The instructions included with the ThorUI AU state the following:

Create your own custom presets by using the executable located here:

"EverQuest II\UI\thorui\#Custom Video Presets\eq2ui_custompreset.exe"

Note: There is an issue with the Auto Updater that inhibits it from pulling the executable down correctly.

Therefore you must do so manually by downloading by right clicking HERE and choosing "save as" and saving the file to the following location: UI\thorui\#Custom Video Presets\eq2ui_custompreset.exe

Instructions:

- Start game, customize your options/graphics the way you like (user-defined)

- press accept button (updates your eq2recent.ini)
- task out of the game and start the eq2ui_custompreset.exe (location see above)
- make sure the program has the right path to your recent.ini and ui-folder
- select the number you want this preference to be saved as (1-3)
- select "kosmos style"
- press "Go" (creates eq2_custompresetX.xml -> x = selected number)
- "Exit", close and restart game

yes, did all that. when i run the new .exe thats when i get the error. am i doing something wrong? I mannualy downloaded from the link you gave, thats the file giving me the error.

I'm not sure what the problem is.
I've tried deleting my thorui folder and re-downloaded everything again and it still works fine for me. (Tried the same on 4 different computers)

If you haven't tried that yet i would recommend it.

Other than that I don't have a clue sorry.

It must be something I am doing wrong then, I will completely delete ThorUI and start from scratch and see If I missed something. Thanks

I downloaded ThorUI (after removing it completely, Deleted the ThorUI folder at C:\Programfile\ThroUI, and C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\thorui) Reinstalled it, downloaded the new custompreset exe (from this thread) loaded the game setup my custom settings, /camp desktop, opened, C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II\UI\thorui\#Custom Video Presets\ ran the eq2ui_custompresetexe and got the same error above.

Did I miss something or am I just out of luck ?

I hate to say it but I'm at a loss with this.

What display settings are you trying to change?

I could perhaps make those preset changes for you and send you the changes.

I have a setup that looks the way I want and plays well, so I wanted to put that as my custom so I can use the presets you have for raids (when it gets laggy). But If what I listed as the steps I am taking above is correct, then I will just have to live without that feature. Great UI btw, and thank you for trying to help figure this out. It would just take way to long to type out every setting the way I have it, but thank you for offering to do that for me.

Is there a particular .dll or any other file that is needed for this app to run? one that i might not for some unknown reason have ?

I just setup ThorUI and did all this on my other comp and it works fine, it is my comp, going to re do windows (never did a complete wip after testing vista) so i need to anyways. thanks and sorry to waste your time.

I didn't have .net installed after I dumped Vista, and thats is what was causing the error.

I'm having a problem with the video presets too.
The files in the "#Custom Video Presets" are all wrong. I deleted them and tried updating, but they just came back the same.

They're all exactly 2513 bytes, and it's HTML:

It looks to me like it wasn't able to download the right file or something.
